U both turned straights, and seeing he didn't bet on the flop, you went all in... were you trying to push him out? If you think you had the winning hand, why would you go all in and push him out?

I had this weird feeling he made his straight too........

or he was on a bigger flush draw when he called right away!

I just wanted to take the pot right away.....look at the possibility of those draws....

Well, no matter how well you play it, there's still a lot of luck involved. I won a $130 hand on a 1/2 limited table up north once when I should've tossed my cards, but I just couldn't give up my pocket rockets, and I got lucky on the river. I had AA, flopped two low cards and an Ace, all hearts, 5 people stayed in and everyone was raising, I couldn't toss the A's so I called all of them. Turned a queen of hearts and I knew it was over when all of them stayed in and still kept raising, but I was stupid and couldn't give up the trips. Then the river came, bam, another queen. The guy with the nut flush was so depressed.

In most limit rake games, you always play the rockets because even if you lose, most resorts have a 'bad beat' wheel where you STILL win money, unless you overbet in that particular hand. I lost my rockets once to some dude chasing runner-runner straight despite me landing a set off the flop. You can't scare anybody away from a 2/6 limit table...so he called all my bets. Good thing he didn't reraise.

Yes, you do play the Aces in limit games, but usually not when there are 4 hearts on the table and there are 5 people that's still raising hard. Bad beats are usually boats with aces full, and higher hands, I barely made that on the river, but I was hoping for someone to have the bitches so we can split the $10k bad beat jackpot. Bottomline, I didn't play that hand well, but I got lucky. And I'll rather be lucky then good any day of the week and twice on weekends.

thats why i cant play those damn limit games! too many people sucking out on you. and its usually some old guy who has money to burn so he calls everything for the fun of it. for me that takes the fun out of the game, not to mention skill. no limit is a better game...well depending on the stakes.

Of course no limit is the better game BUT I have to pay almost $300 just to see the flop. Those guys are freaking high rollers - they don't just check all the way. They're also intimidating - with their stacks quite abundant and they don't play with dolla chips here - but Benjachips.

well thats the point of no-limit. to get into a heads up situation and push everyone out who has marginal hands. yeah if you "need" to see the flop to make a marginal hand then betta get out the way! but those intimidating guys with big stacks sometimes like to push around the smaller stacks. but if you have a hand, the payoff is well worth it. eh, its only money right?

In those games I don't look at my chips as just money, but potential down payments. They'll call me all-in with my $1,000 and still play against 3 other players for a side pot reaching in the 10k's.

Play lower limit NL tables. Pechanga has nice $40 limited buy in NL tables, they can only come with more chips if they are switching from other tables. The thing is, alot of these people who gathered up a large stack and switch tables, most of the time they get cut down real fast. I've seen so many of these "bullies" that tries to go to a lower table to push people out, because they haven't gotten into the groove and aren't use to how people at the table plays, their stack gets cut down quick before they catch on. Before they know it, they're pulling out their wallet and rebuying again.

tzf - I have yet to see a limited buy-in NL table. The times I've been in Vegas the only rule they have is $100 minimum buy-in but in reality, those freaks buy-in with 5-10k. Hell, they even let you buy more chips while you're already seated.

That's really nice, though - what Pechanga has but if you think about it, that's just bad business for Pechanga because the less money on the tables, the less raking going on.

Actually most of the indian casino has similar buy in max limit at a few tables. That's actually better business for them as it encourages more individuals to play since there are less intimidation with large stacks. I don't think they really care too much exactly how much money is in play, as they collect a set amount for each hand played. Vegas is a different story. Too many tables with those semi-pros sitting there all day just waiting to take the money of an amateur tourist.
