Standard UK response, and from the guy with an automatic (ie, girly) transmission M3. Personally I have a hard time associating raw and muscular cars like the Z4 M and E46 M3 as anything but manly. They are no smoothies to drive, and they drive best when pushed a bit. That's not very girly. The new M3 on the other hand is quite tame and you don't even recognize its potential until you really get on it. But I'm not going to bash the new M3 because I like it, but not enough to buy it. Additionally, its weight really negates its boost in power over the E46 M3, which to me will always be the classic definition of a sports coupe. The new M3 is overloaded with technologies and driving aides, which really detract from the fun of driving. Back to Infinitys. Well, after all said and done, it's an Infinity.

LOL. Posts were a minute apart. That little detail was just laying there ready to exploit.
I think my new definition of a girls car is one which can be purchased with an optional automatic transmission. That could also work for a dolt's car, since you pay a huge premium for it! Just kidding, the DCT has merit. It does make the car quicker. But it costs a fortune to replace and reliability has yet ot be proven, so owners should definitely dump them very quickly before the warranty expires (and go out and buy the more manly E46 M3). Sorry, couldn't resist...

now someone explain this to me. how the fuck do you get a heavy car, add more weight to it, like a lot more weight, like 3 dead hookers in the trunk and get significantly MUCH better performance???
Edmunds is bullshitting... i betcha anything they're paid by Infiniti. stupid shit... what's even more stupid is to call G37 a chick's car. where did that come from? |

Actually the current G37s coupe can do somewhere around a 5.4 sec sprint to 60mph, with the slower and lower geard 5 speed. with the new 7 speed, faster shifts and lower gearing, they have reduced the 0-60mph. makes sense, it seems they havent added weight for the 2009 year, so its practically identical to the 2008 but with a much better tranny and gearing.

Do we know the weight distribution figures for this car. If there is more weight over the rear wheels then with this and it's short gearing it's possible to achieve the figures without this massive jump into the improbable.

the G37 already has a very short first gear, it cannot possibly get any shorter. i cant imagine it shaving 0.6 seconds from a 0-60 sprint. i can believe shaving a second from 1/4 mile, but 0-60? idk man.... not only that, but it's at least 200 lbs heavier. im still not convinced! |

I was not referring to the way the Z4, especially the coupe, drives. It is an intense and visceral experience, much more direct and hard than my M3. I also think the M coupe looks bada$$. The roadster, however, is somewhat feminine in appearance. Quote:

"Compared to the old five-speed, the seven-speed automatic has significantly shorter 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear ratios. In fact, it's geared more aggressively than even the six-speed manual gearbox."-edmunds "Infiniti says the 2009 G37 sedan should be a couple tenths of a second quicker from zero to 60 mph — perhaps even a half-second, one official tells us." believe it now? im not surprised here, gearing, tranny and final gearing plays a major role in acceleartion. Now that Infiniti has been put aganist the wall with the 335i, they needed to step up there game, hence the change within one year already happening. tisk, tisk to the previous owners of the G37, sucks they got a slower car, 5speed tranny |
