Would it be cool to see BMW come out with an actual halo car like the M1? Sure, but it's easy to see why they don't have that in the plans and why it's ok to not have one - because they don't despite what people say here on the forums. And honest question, if BMW did come out with a "real" M car as a halo (based on what you've seen with the XM, CSL, 3.0L), would anyone buy if it carried a price tag of $150,000+? Or would we all sit here and say well I could buy a Porsche/AMG/R8, etc.? |

It's a nice car, but a halo car needs to be something unmistakable by even non-enthusiasts as being special...something that turns every head, something kids would have as a Hotwheels toy. The M8 would drive right by most people and they would think it's a 4 series coupe (again, obviously not to an enthusiast).

BMW isn't the brand you think it is. Its recent success comes from them turning the company into the German Toyota, vastly expanding their lineup and selling SUVs literally by the boat load. BMW has how many different models and configurations now? They clearly don't see a benefit in having a halo/supercar. They are a mainstream volume brand with a performance division that has become a bit of an afterthought.

The i8 was literally the reverse halo car... It was BMW's Maserati Ghibli - terrible car in every single metric marketed to people who thought even at -30k under sticker that it was an "exotic" or a status car. The F8x was an Aventador compared to it.

That is true but it's still one of the most beautiful cars in existence today...it still turns heads. Agreed on the performance aspect and the interior sucked also.

I think it's hideous. It's one of those designs that ages so poorly, which is weird because BMW has a history of timeless designs. Only BMW and Porsche knew how to make a car look good for decades.

I don't really care what your opinion on the aesthetics of the car is. I was mocking you for the the fact that you are wasting your time on an online forum for a car/brand that you don't even own. I mean even you can you can see how lame that is... right?

Congrats - you've managed to derail this thread with your 'opinion' which isn't even related to the thread. Good job champ

I didn't derail anything. I was talking about halo cars and you two morons decided to "come at me bro" because I said your grill was ugly.
