KG designates "Alcantara/Sensatec" (no color designated), and then underneath that, there is one choice: KGNL, which is Black Alcantara/Sensatec with blue contrast stitching, which requires ordering ZMP.

KH designates "Perforated Sensatec" (no color designated), and then underneath that, there are the color choices: KHCX (oyster), KHKP (red/black), KHMY (mocha) and KHSW (black), with the note that KHKP and KHMY require 481 (sport seats).

So there's not a basic black alcantara choice - it's just you can either get alcantara or perforated Sensatec; and after you make that choice, then you choose color...but there's only one alcantara color to choose.
are all Alcantara the same?(since it's a trademarked name) My only experience is sitting in my friend's Porsche Macan(?) a couple of years ago. I thought it was suede but she said it was the Alcantara option. Very comfy, but hard to shift around in the seat, but I suppose that's the whole point?

FWIW, we are in a U06 2AT M Sport loan car at the moment. It has Oyster Vernasca trim. The seats are very hard and slippery compared to our X1. The Alcantara seats in the X1 heat up quicker on the "Low" setting than the leather seats in the 2AT do on "High".

Based on my BMW experience over the last 6 years I would rate the trim options in my order of preference as:

1. Alcantara
2. Dakota leather
3. Vernasca leather

I would imagine that genuine Alcantara is offered in different grades and at commensurately different prices and that car manufacturers using Alcantara will cut their cloth accordingly, if you will pardon the awful pun.

in my area(East Coast of US), the summers are hot and humid... frequently 35 degrees Celcius with 80% humidity.

does the Alcantara used by BMW make it slightly more tolerable when getting into a hot car? (as opposed to real or fake leather)

I will have to get back to you later this year with regard to Alcantara. This X1 is the first car that we have owned with Alcantara seats, we have had it for less than two weeks and snow is forecast here in the UK for the next few days.

i can tell you that last summer, when temperatures approached 40 C in the UK, black Dakota leather was no fun.

40 C in the UK sounds horrible. I would rather eat haggis for breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day for a week than having to deal with 40 C temperatures in the UK. (full disclosure, I do like haggis once in a while)

Sounds like August here in Hawaii. I'm used to the heat, but for that month and a half, it's torture. I'm looking forward to remote start so I can cool off the car a bit before I get in. I will say though, that the sensatec in my f32 seems to cool off faster than the leather that was in my e90, and doesn't crease and crack like real leather.

can't find anybody else talking about the aluminium-trim on the accelerator and brake pedals.

wish BMW put the aluminium-trim on the dead pedal as well

is there a BMW or aftermarket aluminium pedal that will match the pedals of the M-Sport pedals?

There probably will be at some point. The car is too new to really have any specific aftermarket accessories for it yet.

back when I had the Acura MDX, I ordered specially-made carpeted floor mat for it. They had an option for an extra cut/extension on the left so the plastic factory dead pedal is covered by that floormat. However, it sometimes folds back on itself, which I solved by using velcro tape on the dead pedal.

a question about the Alcantara seating surface on the X1. does it cause more static in dry colder weather? for example, will the hair on the back of my head be sticking up due to the Alcantara covered headrest?
