There was a carbon black M3 and a tanzanite m4 right next to each other at my dealership when I went to get my X3 serviced. Tanzanite is definitely more blue, the carbon black can look black in the shade with little to no blue hue.

Not a fan of carbon black at all. My mom has it on her X5. It's 100% a boring dark blue.
BSM looks so much sharper and sportier.
