I also saw the LCI X7 down here and the slight revised X7 with crystal lights all down here, wouldn’t say we’re known for car thefts but I’ve seen 4 GTRs get picked up recently all buddies of mine. In Detroit they had their hellcat Durango stolen out of a driveway of an executives house when it was in prototype

I know exactly where that first photo is taken… That is beside Lakes Park in Fort Myers. Not far from where I live.

Simply because if they test drive it anywhere in South Carolina,it wouldn't last more than an hour or two before it was involved in an accident and most likely totaled. Throw in a round-about (traffic circle) and it'd be instantly smashed

Wondering if they will ditch the side vent like the M2 did. Seems like the charging port is occupying the space

You’re going ICE Vs BEV though? The power difference is going to be somewhat vast?

I didn’t buy an electric vehicle to save the planet which is usually the first thing I tell people when they ask me about my iX M60. I bought it because my M550 warranty was coming to an end and I wanted an SAV with some self-driving features. I should’ve known they were going to flip the entire BMW lineup to iDrive 8+ with the curved display. If I would’ve known that they were doing it so quickly in January, I probably would have waited. It has been super convenient only having to charge at home with near zero maintenance, but I do miss my 5 Series and this one will probably check all of the boxes. This thing will be a beast!

Now luckily you’ll have I drive 8.5 with a 7 series interior which to me is the best of both worlds. I’d say wait for the 25 as first years tend to do worse with holding value and issues such as the bearings recall in G80. But free will definitely keep me posted on your build boss!

Yeah, it sucks that they replaced the head unit on the iX in March because of all of the issues with the MGU21. I have to manually reboot iDrive about once every week or two. I have discovered that the eSIM service doesn’t appear to work sometimes because the vehicle is not handing out a default gateway or is handing out a local IP address on the wrong internal subnet. A simple iDrive reboot fixes this every single time. I do not believe the MGU22 has this issue at all - plus it’s upgradable to iDrive 8.5 and supports Highway Assistant.

The i7 has had the MGU22 head unit since it’s inception and I suspect the G90 will have it as well. The XMs start getting it next month.

They are taking the camo seriously with the bolt on cover for the hood and backside windows. Am waiting to see the Touring and not sure I believe they won't bring it to the US. Audi has done too well with the RS6 for them to ignore that market now.

Regarding the drivetrain, I drove an XM and hated it. And when I say hate, I mean absolutely despised it. The cutover from electric to hybrid mode was the worst I have ever driven. The integration was way below acceptable in a $150K vehicle and wouldn't be acceptable in a Civic. It jerks back and forth during the cutover which happens constantly when driving around town. Hopefully this gets rectified before the new M5 is released.

This is coming from someone that has driven most of the new generation hybrids since we have bought my wife 3 cars in the last 12 months and she will only drive hybrid or full electric now.

IX and i4 will get it as well and X5/x6 no word on X1 RSU rolls out in September though for any repairs issues such as if this was happening to your unit you can upgrade to idrive 8.5 as of today if you take it to service the bulletin is already out for us internally!

Any iX built before March of this year will not be upgradable to iDrive 8.5 because the MGU21 does not support it. Unfortunately, there’s no retrofit option either because the wiring harnesses are different between the MGU21 and MGU22 head units. I’m pretty much SOL and have learned to live with the periodic iDrive reboots. At least I can do it while I’m driving - literally.

I got told by my regional trainer the reason the M5 touring won’t be here is because of sales lol. People always mention the RS6 because everyone says it does so well.. but it’s the only variant and Audi in Q2 of 2023 has sold about 1,535 that number includes sales of A6, S6, A6 all road and RS6. So that begs the question is it really doing so hot??

I agree with the XM powertrain that alongside they have been giving out techs headaches as a lot are in shops it feels like the worst kind of SMG and the fact if you run out of juice you’re left at 500hp with a left battery slugging you down

I would think RS6 numbers would be low, it starts at $120k and I believe they are only making what is ordered for the US. That said, the M5 Touring would have been the only new BMW I would have considered at this time, so it is a shame they suddenly aren’t bringing it here (we shall see though, that wasn’t what was mentioned previously). As far as integrating the hybrid system, which seems to be a huge issue on the XM, BMW should have torn down a Cayenne Turbo S E Hybrid to see how to do it correctly.
