Update 4:
The MINI Clubman is an uncomfortable car! My partner and I drove to Studley Castle last week for a three-night stay, which is approx. 140miles from our home - we both felt like we'd driven 500miles non-stop by the time we arrived, both suffering back ache. Also, the economy of the MINI (a Cooper S) sucks compared with my X1. Finally, the dash looks like it was designed by a 12year-old; garish and distracting - give me back my minimalist X1 dash! I have asked the rental company to give me a BMW product that is at least equivalent to the X1 (this is Enterprise, and under their deal with BMW, they are only allowed to rent BMW products as loan cars). Regarding my X1, I have now been told the gearbox will be delivered to the dealer sometime w/c 15th Jan - not sure whether or not to take this update with a pinch of salt... |

I have the same issue and errors. I brought my car last friday to dealer. On monday they are goiing to check whats goiing on.
Btw: I bought a 25e PHEV that was dilivered on august 10th. In the first week the errors started. 1) Accoustic error (no sound of speakers, parking sensors, indicators,..). Sometimes the big screen is all black (except small BMW logo). 2) driver airbag issue: Car was 2 months with the dealer. There was a backorder for the part they needed to change (airbag module). After fix this error didn’t came back so seems it is OK now. 3) energie management error: no info abaut this. 4) emergency call system failed: no info abaut this. 5) Drivetrain issue: decreased motor power. Max 45km/h and error to stop the car. + error: Can not put car in R. |

Update 5:
Yesterday morning, out-of-the-blue, I had a call from Enterprise car hire company to say they had a BMW Series 1 they could swap for the MINI – I said yes, anything is better than the MINI! So approx. 11:00AM, a guy turns up to my house with an almost new Series 1 M-sport – it is an order of magnitude better than the MINI and a very nice and fun car to drive (has all the ‘toys’ too!). And then today I get a text message from the BMW dealer to tell me the new gearbox has arrived – ten days earlier than expected, and that they hope to have my X1 back to me this Wednesday! Things are perhaps looking up… |

Update 6 (and hopefully the final one!)
I picked my car up from the dealer first thing this morning. Uneventful 18mile drive to the office, so hopefully all is well They fully valeted it too, so it’s like having a brand new car again! |

that's the question I ask now, after every warranty repair. the last one being the center screen and head unit replacement for the software glitch. the dealer said it would be well over $4000(USD) if out of warranty. thanks! |

As an aside, after the dreadful MINI I had as a loan car, it was exchanged for a 1 Series M-sport 118D automatic for two days of needing a loaner - not ony was that car an order of magnitude better than the MINI, I felt it had a far superior automatic gearbox than the one fitted to the X1.
Also there was no hesitation whatsoever from a standing start. It was not even MHEV. I was also pleasantly surprised at just how refined the diesel engine was, and it had plenty of low down grunt. It was a very nice and refined car to drive, so much so my partner wants one for her next car! |
