This is the m35i Kidney grill that I assembled myself.

Very nice. Where did you get the grille from? Did you order the center piece separately?

Yes.
The bmw official service center is genuine.
We have it in stock in Germany, so it took two months to get it to Korea.

Daebak! Looks great. Did you do it yourself? How long did it take? I'm waiting for mine to reach Singapore too. My local stockist also has the grille, so I'll be doing a swap as well.

I’ve finally managed to place an order for the M35i mirror caps and retaining rings. Should be delivered in the next 2 weeks. The mirror caps do indeed only come primed from BMW, so I’ll have to get them painted, but I’ll check fitment first just in case
The M35 mirrors are a different shape. You can't just swap out the caps--you'd have to replace the entire mirror.

Not true. Just the mirror cap and retaining ring. Already did the swap. Fits perfectly.

You can check it out on the m35 mirror cap thread

EDIT: I’ve added the photos here to make it easier

Mirror caps only available primed, so I got them painted

Oh that's interesting that the "cap" is the entire extended piece.....

It’s the same for all the M mirror caps (at least in recent years).

The “retaining ring” (aka the front portion of the mirror housing) provides the typical M shape, and the mirror caps just complete the look.

From certain angles, the “rear” view of the M mirror caps could like they are an entirely different mirror housing compared to the “front” view

Yes, I replaced it myself. You need to lower the front bumper a little bit. That way, you can remove it completely without breaking the pin.
It took two hours.
There is a video on YouTube.^^

You are a true leader.
It was hard to find information about the mirror, but thanks to that, I was able to work on it
Thank you.

i’m keen to do the grille swap but i noticed those who have swapped to shadow line grille don’t have the center line on the center piece, it’s just one big black block. anyone can share if they managed to do a grille swap to the shadow line grille and have the center line on their center piece?

For eg. this is my grille after the swap, i noticed its lacking that center line unlike some of the other X1 M35i I'm seeing online -

I actually found this part number -
51138080220
https://www.schmiedmann.com/en/produ...1-13-8-080-220

but its missing a port/mount for the radar plug, so i couldnt use it.

Any advise would be super helpful. thanks!

In case anyone wants the black center piece with the line, its 6631 5 A07 6D4

and 6631 5 A07 6D5 for a silver line (the usual grille)

Thanks!

The cheap crappy chinese knock offs are one peice.

If you buy the shadow line grille from BMW the grille is supplied but the centre piece is also required as it’s a separate part.

I also have an m-sport but couldn't find one with a shadow package. So I wanted to change the kidney for a black one but they gave me a price like $ 1200 usd. I asked BMW if I could cover it with vinyl but they told me that the radar will not work when I cover it with a vinyl.

I didn't listen to them and let it cover it with a black vinyl. And voila.... not any problem with the radar system and just paid $ 100 usd inclusive the mirrors.

The best point is that I can pull it out when I dont want it anymore.

Here are some pictures of it.
