I assume it also means the new X3 will be absolutely impossible to code like most BMWs from the last couple of years. (no coding of the lights and other stuff, especially for those of us in the US who don't get some light features like the European BMWs)

Full disclosure, my BMW dealer already has my $1000 deposit on their new X3 list. They've had my $1000 for the last 8 months. I am #2 and the list currently has 92 customers who all put down $1000 deposits for the new X3.

Could be cost saving, but it’s more practical this way.

Ever since iDrive 8, coding has been a huge problem. Everything is relayed back to bmw and installing updates, will either reset your coding back to default, or potentially brick the software.

So glad I bought the X1 instead of waiting on the new X3. What a hideous looking vehicle...I'll look at one in the showroom when they come out. The ones in the videos do not look like they're worth €75-105.000

Glad I'll be keeping mine for a while. Looks like when it's time to make a new car purchase I'll be looking at an Audi re-design - they're long overdue and it feels like they were waiting to see what the reaction to the new X models would be.
