I get Mavs have to try and validate their trade publicly, all teams do it. But the kid is already an absolute demon on the court. Are Mavs trying to give him ammunition to get even better? This trade in the grand scheme doesn’t matter. Neither of these teams were winning a title before the trade and they aren’t winning one after the trade.

That being said, it’s negligent to have traded a guy without taking offers from other teams.

They apparently talked to one other team (I strongly suspect it was Giannis) and were likely hung up on….

The Lakers made this trade because they just want someone to attract fans once LeBron is gone in the next year or two (or heck, maybe even this year). Otherwise, no one comes to play for the Lakers to just play with AD.

I don't get paid Millions to evaluate and coach pro athletes. So I simply trust the process.
This shit ain't no "happenstance".

Luka insisted, publicly that he wanted help. He got Kyrie, the best Handles this game has ever seen! He got Washington and Gafford, two super solid Defenders that help get us to the Finals. It still wasn't enough.

Knowing and watching the game as much as I do, I fully expect an immediate improvement for what we were clearly missing.

Vegas says the opposite after the trade. They moved LA up to +1400 and Mavs down to +3000 to win the chip.

Remember the Rudy Gobert trade. You guys got robbed. This Luka trade doesn't pass the smell test, don't trust new owners or Silver. It makes zero sense Mavs didn't shop around more.

Here's another tidbit I read: This season when Dallas has played the Top Tier West Teams, they have lost when Luka played. When he was out, they won. At what point do you wager your entire foreseeable future on a player that you already Drafted, know and watched first hand for the last 7 seasons???

The Mavs (Nico) are running a full blitz smear campaign on Luka trying to justify the trade. They were 13-16 without Luka this year and 13-9 with him. They are a worse team than they were before the trade.

Martin is out indefinitely with a more serious hip injury than they thought. Nico also had the option to unwind the trade due to the injury but decided against it.

There is no justification for this trade that makes any basketball sense. Stop trying to find one.

Shocking trade but this won’t be able to be judged for a few years. Giving a guy a max contract that is not committed to staying in shape is a lot to ask. He’s got incredible vision on the court and can shoot . I don’t understand why they didn’t open this up to the entire league, that’s enough for me to fire the GM.

Team defense matters a lot, and when your main guy gets blown by every single possession and you end up in help defense position every play, it is demoralizing

Nah... It actually is! The difference between having to play in the bullshit PLAY-IN and then the PLAYOFFS, makes a world of difference on Rest and Health. Not to mention the standings determine who you play which can also be a match up advantage or disadvantage.

I live in Arlington and i am gutted. This is exactly why i have never liked the Yankees or Lakers. They ALWAYS get the best players in the end. I literally can't imagine why we would have done this.
