Turbos are insane and a different market. Coupes also command a premium but you're lucky that you like cabs.

I don't recommend anything older than 964 (late '89).
Looks like maintenance cost is very high

The 930.

It's funny, when my dad bought his 993 in circa 2012, nobody wanted a 964. "Vastly inferior to the 993" was the consensus, and they were like giveaway cheap because they weren't fast, were rough around the edges, and not really great cars.

Now people are obsessed over them.

I've long been a 964 fan and was eyeing them up like 15yrs ago when you could get a decent example for a reasonable price. Those days are gone. Maybe I need to become an "influencer".

To OP, saw your 6/7 update. Not a bad path if you like the platform, size, and what it brings. Not a large market for similar alternatives but the trade-offs might be worth it (cost aside).

These are older, expensive cars with compromises, I say try a Maserati Gran Turismo or a Jag F-Type for something different.

I can still get my vert fix with an older Miata (Or even a cheap ND) plus add another toy OR replace my beater with a fun beater.

My dad has similar tendencies. He pegged the 993 market was going to go nuts and bought a crazy nice 993 aero 6 speed car with like 26k miles. Gorgeous car. He unfortunately is the worst at timing, and sold his car for a tidy profit that would be dwarfed by the profit he'd have made had he listened to me and held onto it for a few more years.

He did that with real estate too to the tune of like a million dollars. Still salty about that.
