honestly, if you aren't at clubs or bars, you don't see much of that anyway. but that is a distinguishing factor, for sure.

leave it to the internet to blow things out of proportion.

If Long Island, Staten Island, and North Jersey were to sink into the Atlantic, the entire guido population would disappear.

On a scale of 1 to Vagina i would rate this thread a fantastic FAIL

Even though the OP's question was valid, the person who came in and started blabbering about NY ruined it.

To try and stay on topic (thank you jhvalley for trying) California is a fantastic place to live, if you have the money for it. Its got an extremely diverse geography, from snowy mountains to arid deserts, we've got it all.

Weather for the most part is mild, think Mediterranean. Winters are rainy, Spring is absolutely joyous with very even temperatures, Summer is hot, but not too humid, and Fall is beautifully chilly.

The people for the most part (on the road) are lazy though, you will almost always end up stuck behind some minivan who pulled out to pass a mexican in a gardening truck and doesnt go any faster, and then doesnt pull back over until about 5 cars fly past her to tell her shes going too fucking slow. And signal all you want, that fucker in the Saab isnt going to move out of your blind spot so you can get off the freeway until you miss your exit.

If you have the means to live here, do it. If you are coming from Manhattan, then I suggest you move to L.A. or San Diego, aka a more well-known city, to get less of a shock of how different life is.

Negatives include an increasingly retarded legislature (for example, they were trying to ban the color black on cars, not that its against the constitution or anything) and high taxes on everything. Everything is pretty costly, from land to labor, so get used to shelling out a few more bucks.

Oh and, half of SoCal is on fire at some point or another.

How is this possible? Most of California's populous cities are coastal, i.e. Pacific Ocean.

I'm sorry, but I did write quite a lengthy response. To which part are you referring to? The weather?

It's okay, it was just very offtopic, and kind of annoying. He asked how california was, not why you have a hard-on for long island.

The part where you suggested it wasn't humid.

Humidity is not necessarily governed by a location's proximity to large bodies of water. Its rather the way currents of ocean and air and our complex system of weather that create sub tropical zones. as you can see from the following map, most of the southwest of the United States is in some form of arid climate zone (aka desert). So just trust the people that live here, unless you are talking about NorCal (but if you are going to move to Norcal y not just stay in NY) its not humid at all pretty much anywhere in SoCal. But then again, its pretty relative, because Im comparing humidity to where I was born GuangZhou, China where its so fucking humid, in the summer, as soon as you step out of an AC room, you would think you pissed yourself because your balls are so wet, not sweating, just wet. So I mean, if your from Northern Africa or something then I guess we are pretty humid. If your from Long Island, bring some lotion.

Good map. I've spent a bunch of time in the Bay Area over the summer. Was pretty humid.

I have many Cali friends that currently live in NY and they tell me they miss the weather in Cali, however theres nothing compared to "the city". Everythign is dead around Cali when it gets late. Theres always something popping in NYC at any given time on any given day.

True. For staying out late people in California go to Vegas.
