the links that were posted by other members are great for getting components but im not sure if theyre what you need it terms of original parts. im still trying to figure out what mine is lol. but i think im sticking to the original parts except the usual: grips, chains, tires. heres what ive done today FRONT BRAKE DELETE! needs some more sanding. thatll be done as i prep for paint also ive decided to keep the front pegs as the job to grind it down will be too tough and im worried it wont look clean. ill just replace it soon with another fork so anyone know what colors i should go with? still cant decide!

thanks...i worked on it more to get it smooth
i just noticed where the rear brakes are located on yours. are there welded pegs back there to support the brake? or is the brake just screwed into the frame?

an old high school classmate that I see every once in a while has this bike http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/dyno/2302 I'm trying to convince him to sell it to me and he won't let it go. I saw him riding it with flat tires the other day and I almost cried. It's pretty beat and he isn't into bikes he's just had it for a while, but I want to restore it.

I disassembled mine yesterday so all I need to do is buy some stripper (heh heh) and prep it for powder coating. Not sure where I can take it to get that done. Or maybe I should DIY, but that might turn out ghetto. I'm on ebay looking for some black mags too.

major thread revival... was just searching around to see if anybody was into classic BMX bikes. i just finished "restoring" my old Diamondback Silver Streak. i say "restore" because it's a vintage '81-'83 survivor (haven't determined exactly), and wanted to keep it as original as possible. aside from the pedals, it's all original.

here's my survivor Diamondback Silver Streak ('81-'83? ) that i've had since middle school. the pic really doesn't do it justice. it's far from perfect, but wanted to keep it as close to original as possible. it's all original except for the pedals. i have the original Araya rims, but those aren't the rims pictured here. i'm currently restoring the Araya's.

Great thread revival. I had one of these ... top of the Raleigh range at the time - their pro team bike, I believe ...
http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/raleigh/46782 The oval, mirror finish chrome frame was amazing. I had it for about 6 or 7 years and kept it in mint condition. I friend borrowed it when I was about 17 and the fool left it outside a shop in town, from where it was stolen. I wish I still had that bike. Motivated to source one now. Cheers. |
