I think I learned about this in my psychology class. I think it happens when your in REM sleep. Don't remember it quite well, but it basically happens because your brain turns on while your body is still asleep. That might explain the weird things that tend to happen, when this happens to you.

I've had about 2 times in my life. not fun haha

i think i'm the only one that likes it when it happens. Weird stuff happens but i know what's going on so i'm not freaking out. I just ride it out and have fun with it.

Ha. I was just going to say this. Moments after falling asleep, I'll have a quick dream that I'm falling off a house or ladder, and when I hit the ground, my whole body jerks.

I've had it happen a couple of times. But I'm not sure if it really happened - what I mean is that I think I may have dreamed that I woke up and couldn't move, but I was in fact asleep the entire time. If that makes sense.

damn i get this a lot. is it related to sleep paralysis though? sleeping is one of the most messed up things for me. i get some weird ass shit happening. this might not make sense but in my dreams, its like i have another dream, confusing effed up shit right there.

regarding your first statement, do you mean dreaming of falling or getting a feeling of falling and you spaz out waking up? dreaming of falling i think is something diff than the feeling of it. the feeling is freaky is hell lol

Happens to me a lot, best thing to do is to consciously try to wiggle your fingers on the sheets and move your eyes. It will bring you out of it quicker. Then pray you don't have any sort of shadowy lamp post/creaking or something in your room because your brain WILL decide it's an axe murdered getting ready to hack you to bits.

i have this quite often. 3 days a week i commute to Los Angeles and i wake up at 520 am and this is primarily when it happends.

happened to me too. it was around 3am when i saw a dark shadow hover over me. it was moving closer to me as this loud beeping noise got even louder. when it reached my bed i tried to push it away but couldnt move or yell. eventually i forced myself up and it was gone. very scary experience

I had this happen to me last night, it was messed up. I was awake, but paralyzed, and I was sure there was someone in the room that was going to kill me or was trying to stick some kind of tube into my neck. I was trying so hard to move that when I finally woke up I almost flew out of bed.
