Cool pics!
I'm putting a 2002 in the garage as soon as I get a free stall. Always loved those cars. The Alpina Z8 is pretty sweet. Guy four doors down from me has one, though his subframe has become warped over time. The e82 has seriously grown on me. Hated it at first but I like it more and more as each day passes. |

Is that older orange BMW supposed to have that big V8 stuffed in there??? That thing must be insane! Ok, I just looked again, and I'm an idiot. Thats just the four cylinder and the air plenum. Sorry...

That's a E30 M3 engine, that's the hot ticket for those 2002's

Incredible, I'll have to keep an eye out for something like that around here, I never realized there were so many classics in such great shape still.

Its amazing to see how some of the classic styling cues are apparent on todays models- the sharp waistline crease, indicators above the headlamps- I think its great!
By the way, what model is that gorgeous red coupe with the 'faired in' trapezoidal headlamps?

The Windy City BMW's Vintage Fest is a yearly event held at ZF Transmissions' Vernon Hills facility. Classic BMW fans from across the midwest get together to show off their cars, enjoy the BBQ and home made cookies, and tell their stories. Some of the cars arrived with their original owners, dating back to the 70s! The amount of vintage German machinery present was enough to get any true BMW fan excited, and for IND and WSTO, two businesses that are accustomed to working with modern BMWs, this was a welcome change of pace.
The tour of ZF's beautiful facility was amazing, the weather couldn't have been better, and it was great to see old friends from the BMW community. Here is WSTO and IND's photo coverage of the event :
