i think bioshock deserves to be on my top 10 too. too linear but atmosphere was top notch.

Too hard to decide what my top 10 are, so I'll list most influential to me. Many more games I like but these were on top of my mind. Listed in no particular order.

Xenogears (Ending seemed rushed but will always be one of my favorites. never played sequals)
Final Fantasy 8 (Enjoyed this story the most)
Counterstrike (revolutionized FPS for me)
Warcraft 2 (I'd have said the original, but 2 was so much better. no roads)
Bioshock (best story FPS I've played)
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (best competition fighting game ever)

How about Centipede for the Atari 2600? Never really understood why those bugs were so pissed off. Too bad there wasn't a can of Raid you can spray in the game.

4. Secret of Mana (SNES)

5. COD4:MW (360 or PS3)

6. GTAIII (PS2) -Because it ushered in all future GTA games like Vice City, San Andreas and of course GTAIV

7. Gran Turismo (PS1) -Simply because it proved that racing games COULD be done well. Leading up to future Gran Turismo games and the Forza franchise.

8. Gears of War (360)

9. Mario Kart (SNES or N64, both were fantastic)

10. Final Fantasy 7 (PS1)

However there are just so many to mention that a 'Top 50' would really be required to cover all platforms.
