You've gotta be kidding me..... did you really just say 1408? You know I actually saw Stephen King at Barnes and Nobles last week. He was just chillin' Cujo is classic, Also thought that Night Flier movie was pretty cool.

The original Alien scared the ever loving shit out of me the first time I saw it. Granted I was very young, but still. Something about waking up, not remembering anything, then all the sudden WHAM chestburster....The Thing is another classic, although I can't say that it's truly scary as much as it is suspenseful.

As far as the one that scarred me the most, I think I'd have to be the original Terminator.
I was only maybe 6 years old when I saw it. I think I spent a night or two in my parents room over that one... I remember waking up in the middle of the night and thinking I was seeing those red eyes down the hall coming at me. |

Oh Cannibal Holocaust. Made me sick to my stomach. It is the original thing of the blair witch type genre. Journalists go into the amazon to make a 'documentary' of the local villagers. The journalists really are sadistic fucks who just slaughter the villagers. Its a 70's movie. For the gore they didnt use special effects, but actual animal body parts so it would look more realistic. And it did.
from wikipedia "Cannibal Holocaust is a well known exploitation film because of the controversy following its release. After premiering in Italy, the film was seized by a local magistrate, and Deodato was arrested on obscenity charges. He was later accused of making a snuff film due to rumors which claimed that certain actors were killed on camera." |

I'd say 1408 was good, but not scary really...
The American version of the Grudge was IMO, better than the Japanese versoin. Honestly though, I don't watch too many horror films. I've seen all your basic stuff, Nightmare on Elm St., Friday the 13th, The Shining (really good!), but I haven't seen the new slasher stuff like Saw (series). There is a Japanese horror film (maybe horror is the wrong word, it's kind of like the Saw films from what I understand/haven't seen Saw remember?) called The Audition. I suppose if you're into the Saw type movies, maybe Ichi the Killer is also up there.

Hah, the American one creeped me out a little. I got hella stuck on the part where the little girl broke her nail on the wall. Funnily that was the creepiest part to me. Thinking of breaking my nail still makes me cringle. Also makes me think of Texas Chainsaw Massacre where this guy is getting dragged away and he breaks a nail scratching the wall. Again... Creepy.

Paranormal Activity just seemed to take WAY too long to get scary. But it scared the shit out of some others in the theater which ruined it for me too. It's hard to be scared when you're laughing your ass off at the woman who jumps out of her seat, throwing her popcorn in the air, and the enormous dude who gets up and announces "FORGET THIS!" as he RUNS out... literally runs!!!

This one movie Dog Soldiers freaked me out. About a family of warewolves tracking down an elite group of UK Soldiers. The Soliders end up taking refuge in a rural farm house that turns out to be the warewolves home. EEEEK

Some of the flicks you guys have mentioned weren't even scary movies imo.. like cloverfield? you gotta be kidding, more like suspense/action.
The Texas chainsaw Massacre remakes were brutal and the worst I can recall watching. |
