What's actually funny is that they intended the S line to compete agianst M3 and the A4 v6 to compete with the 335i and the a4 2.0t to compete with the 328i's but they were getting spanked so they dropped the a4 v6 and "lowered" the price of the s4 to 335i range and they call it a fair comparison It's like purposely degrading yourself out of say a major league to a minor league so you look better and play against less skilled athletes. However, I still do think Audi's make great cars but these comparos are hilarious and what message the audi team is trying to send which is : If we can't beat em, aim for the next highest!

It is very clear that the: A4 2.0T vs. 328i S4 vs 335 (FI 6-cyl) RS4 vs M3 (V8) In the NA. WHy would you compare a FI V6 vs. V8? Why would you compare the 300+ HP vs. 400+ HP Why would you compare the $46k Base Price S4 vs. $56,5k Equally equipped "Base" M3 E90 Base S4 = 335XI + Cold PKG + ZSP + ZPP. Base S4 = $46k (MSRP) 335XI + Cold + ZSP + ZPP = $48k Your comments above make absolutely no sense, but obviously make you feel better Last edited by DFW_M; 11-15-2009 at 10:58 PM.. |

I'd pick the new S4 over the e90 LCI 335.

S4 / 335i Handling: 10 / 9 Ride: 9 / 9 Steering feel: 5 / 5 Braking feel: 5 /4 (and the Audi's stops were more consistent) Transmission: 9 / 8 Fun to drive: 25 / 24 I think BMW should learn a lot from Audi's drive select with user-programmable (and uncoupled) settings. Granted the E90 has been around for awhile, but still. |

The B6/7 S4 matched the then E46 M3 in output, and just prior to the end of production they introduced the RS4 with 420hp. It wasn't Audi moving the goal posts but BMW that did it, I suppose it was it was only a matter of time until BMW shifted it's attention from the S to the RS model. When they introduction the next M3 it upped the power to compete with the RS4 and caused shift to shift the next S4 down to compete with the 335i. Currently the M3 is a better car than the RS4 but by equal measure the the S4 is a better car than the 335i. |

I'd take an S4 over a 335xi anyday of the week, if for not other reason that the interior of the 3er is dated and bland....the interior of the S4 is fresh and gorgeous.

Audi makes great cars, the interiors are much better laid out than the 3's IMO but they need a lesson in creating an attractive rear end. It almost looks like they did everything they could with the entire car but forgot about the back and did it like 10 min before they presented the final designs. |

even with that... the tails look like squinting eyes... not very visually fitting on a car that has a very "full figured" look to it

I just can't figure out why they went with such a low rear waistline and a dipping character line in the rear quarter. Seems to give the same visual impression that the godawful first gen CLS had in the rear. Reminds me of a banana. I think that the rear of cars like these should "bulge" and look muscular, with cues that build up their perceived visual size, rather than shrink it.

i was only kidding with my original post....it was just a recent observation that there are many Audi owners on this BMW site.....I could care less really......but when guys come on here (on a BMW site) and start dissing BMW and stating how great Audi is...I just think its a bunch of trolls stirring up shit. I for one love Audi....also a Porsche fan...Mercedes Benz fan and well as a BMW fan. For the past 20 yrs or so, my garage has had two German cars in it...including Audi. I loved my 2001 A6 4.2....two years later i swapped it out with a 2003 RS6...and still to this day remains as one of my favorite V8 engines! I now own a 2007 335I and a 2004 Carrera 4S....im going to keep my 4S and replace my 335I with an M3 because my lease is up.....im a fan of german engineering....always have ....always will...but you will never find me on a Lexus forum dissing how much the IS 350 sucks...... anyway...nuff said...your too freakin sensitive!

in rain i would take the S4. Have you ever driven one in rain? with that quattro you can floor it and still come out in control. If i did that in my 335i, then id be on the road in a ditch.
