Hehehehe. Even though I haven't actually seen the Sierra Mist guy you mentioned, I don't like bananas either. When I was very young I made the mistake of eating a banana while it was still that "fluorescent" green color. I got so sick from it, I haven't been able to eat a banana since (lets just say its been WAY more than 5 years).

I don't drink during the week, usually reserve that for friday and saturday. Now it's starting to become just 1 of the 2 instead of both like it was a couple months ago.

I enjoy most alcohol's except yeager because of a really bad night. I really enjoy good micro brews or specialty items, not much of a Light fan, but if I have to drink it I prefer Miller Light. When I do go out, I go all out.

I'm 32. I have a drink on occasion. I've never acquired a taste for beer (and I've tried all kinds..it's all the same to me). But why? I've never given in to peer pressure..but I have the odd drink socially if I feel like it. I like that I save money to spend elsewhere.

Do those of you that don't drink see drinking as some sort of vice, or think that people who do drink do it because they're buckling to social pressure?

I like an occasional German / Polish beer, or a glass of wine. Once a month, if that.

Now coffee on the other hand...

In a way, yes and yes.

I used to drink for the wrong reasons (depression, boredom, loneliness, etc.) and I saw things that really mattered in life being pushed to the wayside. It was a rough time in my life, but I'm past that now.

I also know many people who live for nothing else but Friday to come along and drink their weekend and earnings away. I suppose that time and money could be better used elsewhere.

P.S. Don't think I'm a spokesman for MADD or anything. Here's a picture from Springfest in Stuttgart to go with your Hofbrau.

Guiness is an acquired taste. You really have to like beer to drink that guy. You should have started somewhere else. Not to say you made and overall bad decision with life. I just think beer is it's own food group. They all have unique flavors and mixes. As well as wine. It's like italian, german, chinese etc food. Their all different, it's just finding the ones you prefer or don't perfer for you.

Gotchya.

So do you think everyone that drinks is an irresponsible drinker, or is doing it to get drunk/drink away their woes? Just wondering.

RE: Guinness, for some reason people always pick Guinness when they think of "dark" beers, I guess because it's almost black. Thing with Guinness is it's hardly a dark beer, in fact it's a lot lighter than most ales, and certainly less hoppy. Guinness really doesn't taste like much else, which is why, as darkcloud mentioned, it's an aquired taste. Beers vary as much as wines, perhaps moreso; I know plenty of people who hate Guinness, can't stomach porters or IPA's, but love wheat beers, etc.

its my opinion that anyone who doesnt like alcohol just hasnt drunk enough! seriously though, its possible to enjoy alcohol without losing control or whatever it seems some of you might think it does to people. a good beer or wine can really enhance a good meal. like another poster said, you just have to find what you like. i highly recommend going on a brewery/winery tour if you have any in your area. that will allow you to try several different varieties and give you an idea of what you like. drinking alone doesnt make someone irresponsible, overdrinking might though sometimes. and if youre in a controlled environment with friends it can be a lot of fun. also, dont forget alcohol is good for your heart, especially red wine and hoppy beers. the trick is to drink enough for it to have a good effect on your heart while not drinking so much theres an unhealthy effect on the liver!

Absolutely not, and it would be foolish to think so.

i dont drink b/c i dislike the taste of alcohol. i've tried hard liquor, beer, wine, wine coolers, mixed drinks, etc. The only thing that I found drinkable was some italian sparkling wine.

A really good friend of mine told me that if i wanted to make new friends or meet new people, i would need to drink more b/c most social outings involve alcohol in some way (and you'd want to fit in right?). in fact, most of the people i meet do drink alcohol and it's very rare that i'll find someone that wont drink.
