Rogaine solution (minoxidil) went off patent some time ago...so subsequently there were generics available and it went OTC (no prescription). When you go to the store, you can buy the "rogaine version" or the "generic version"...walgreens, target, etc, you name it. So...all of a sudden, Rogaine comes out with the foam...which is ON PATENT. Which means....NO GENERIC version of foam. So...you pay brand pricing for foam...but can get generic pricing for solution. It has not been out long enough for me to know if it actually is more beneficial...and I have not been able to handle the foam yet myself, so I can't really comment on ease of use.
