I love my Prada's, I sat on them once by mistake while getting into the car and it totally twisted them, and the lenses got knocked out... BUT I actually managed to put back everything to normal within a few minutes. Now that's quality.

Lense quality is important. While you dont need polarized, it is nice. There was testing done a few years ago on all those random 2 for $20 glasses at the mall and they actually came back with findings of complete UV protection. It was surprising.
Anyway, you cant really go wrong with a brand name. Most sunglasses are made by one of a few huge companies that have licenses to produce brand names. |

The main advantage of a polarized lens is that it contains a special filter that blocks intense reflected light from flat surfaces (roads, water, etc), which ultimately means a reduction in glare. Filtering light is much preferred over blocking light. This is because a lens that simply blocks light eliminates what you want to see in addition to what you don't. With this in mind, try a simple comparison. Select a couple of glasses with polarized lenses and without. Viewing through the polarized lenses will appear brighter than through the lenses that are not polarized. That's because the polarized lenses are not blocking the desirable light. The result is that you'll see the road (and everything else) better with polarized lenses. One more note on cheap lenses. While cheap lenses can block UV, they also distort the light that is not blocked or filtered. Cheap lenses are just pieces of plastic with a tint coating. Cheap lenses may (or may not) block harmful UV, but, that's about all they do. Cheap glasses are a great example of you get what you pay for! I recommend reading the article at the following link. It will definitely answer all of your questions, and then some. Good luck! http://science.howstuffworks.com/sunglass.htm/printable

Oakley Straightjackets from the mdi 90s (These are my favorite. They've lasted me forever, and this is my second pair after the first fell off my boat and in to the ocean. Stupid ocean) Was really hard to find a pic of a pair that old... Spy Bronsens (Polarized) More spy: Oakley Gascans Also have an 18 dollar pair of aviators from Target that I wear more often than any of the others. I mountain bike and got in to an obsessive habit of watching bonktown.com/whiskeymilitia.com/chainlove.com/steepandcheap.com etc, and they have some great deals on sunglasses.

But all my glasses were bought with my ex-girlfriend present... Like Jay said... just because you think they look cool... doesn't mean they look good on you. |

Sunglasses are one of the hardest things to shop for, IMO. I tend to always go shopping with a girl just because they will tell you what looks good and what doesn't. |

Good taste! I have a friend who is doing wholesale of Chrome Hearts, but even with a hook up I still don't feel like to spend that much bills on a pair of sunglasses!

Seriously though, this is true. I can't even recall how many people I've seen with terrible looking eyewear on. Good thing I'm one of the anomalies

My point was that you can get full UV from most lenses, which IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. After that, in terms of quality of the optics, you somewhat get what you pay for. Certain brands use much higher quality lenses then others. |
