Ok
Tues Night: Lowes: picked up the following: Quikrete Epoxy Garage Floor Kit 62.00 (Just Enough for One Car Garage) One 1/2" nap roller cover 3.00 One Hard Bristle Cleaning Brush (Similar to a Broom, not as wide) 8.00 You'll also need a watering can. The most important step is to Clean your garage floor. I swept it out for about an hour...over and over, and shop vac'd the crap out of it. Dust is the enemy of this project. Then Open the box. There is a cleaning solution LOK, fill the watering can with 3 liters of water and mix the entire LOK solution into it. Wet the garage floor. Start at the back and work your way forward, pour some of the LOK solution in the area to be cleaned, it will bubble. Scrub the sh1t out of the floor. I did about 5'x5' sections at a time. When done one section spray out the dirt and grime that appears. Try to get every stain up, some wont come up but you will see the solution working on them. Once done,go back and spray out the garage again until the water runs clear. Shut the door and let dry OVERNIGHT. The concrete has to be completely dry before adding the epoxy paint. Wed. Floor is clean and dry. Zero dust. Mix Part B into Part A can, use a drill and mixer attachment to stir for three minutes. Make sure to get all of Part B out of the can. Let it sit for 30 mins before applying. First cut in with a regular wide paintbush the perimeter and joints. Then pour some into a roller pan and get to work rolling making sure not to paint yourself into a corner. After doing about a 5x5 section, throw some paint chips in the air and let them randomly fall. Continue until floor is complete. You only have 2.5 hours from the time when Part A is Mixed with Part B to complete. Let it dry for 48 hours prior to foot traffic and about a week before driving on it to let it cure. That's pretty much it. Cleaning the floor is the most important step.

What are the paint chips for? Are they necessary to include, or aesthetics only.
Can't wait to see the results. Car out of the garage for a week sucks though..

One more question - did you find that the one package for $62 was enough to do the whole project? Or did you run thin at the end..
Sorry so many questions.. I've been interested in this for a while now..

I bought one package ($60) and that was 'just' enough for one car garage in my townhouse. Do not waste any of the epoxy while it is being applied and you are fine. I spent over 1 month (weekends only) cleaning and prepping the concrete floor. The application of the epoxy onto the concrete was the EASIEST part.
BTW - If you drive your car onto the epoxy coated concrete floor any sooner than 5 days, then you just screwed yourself. Been 2 years since I applied the epoxy myself and I still love the finish. The paint clips are for fun and are not required.

I'm getting picts for ya now...and the paint chips are actually to make the floor a little non slip...without them it would be an ice skating rink when wet, but it is your pref to use them or not.

....also I found that there was just enough for a one car garage, however I did use alot on the 1 foot high side walls because the concrete was so porous.

hmm. Ice-skating rink in the garage??
That could be cool too, I'd put a net on one side with some targets and fvck around on the weekends.. It'd be much cheaper than local ice time... Looking forward to seeing the pics..

The epoxy comes as two parts that you have to mix together to activate the hardener, once mixed, let it sit for 30 mins...you have 2.5 hours to get it down, more than enough time for a 1 car garage. For a 2 car garage don't mix the second batch until about 3/4 the way done the 1st can.
Note: Part A does not fill the entire can and accounts for you adding PArt B , so you just pour part B into Part A can and mix. Simple.

This looks awesome. Your garage looks 1000X better. It looks like a nice garage now, like a nice home for your car to sit in, not a dirty outside workshop type area (like mine looks). It's like an actual finished room now. I can't believe how much better it looks for $70. You must be really excited with the results? I think once summer comes around I might tackle this... What a difference. Two thumbs up, job well done.. Maybe when it dries and you can get your car in there you could take a picture? It looks so good, can't wait to see how your car looks in there.

When I get a "real" garage I hope to do something like what you've done.
