I realy do not understand this B&O hype thing...............it is nowhere near high end what so ever................... It is however a product with strong marketing, but no mindblowing testresults. German magazines like Stereo and Steroplay can not show good testresults that aren`t even close to what realy hig end products have to offer these days............... B&O is realy form over function, not form follows function..........it is , indeed, a life style product............ |

Oh easy! I've seen factory integrated B&O options that push $10K (the Audi S8 B&O option I believe...)

I am not fond of B&O too...
Never liked the sound of their IcePower class D amplifiers, nor of their products. I am still waiting for my new S3 with the Individual sound system made by Dirac, so I can't speak for sure, but I'd bet it was far better partnership. Judging from what I've read, this is supposed to be one of the best sound systems available from a car maker. Don't know why they turned to B&O... can only imagine B&O is better known than Dirac... |

I'm sure when it hits the 3 series it'll be that same $2k range.

A lot of misleading posts about B&O. Yes, they are oriented towards high design products, and they place that aspect high on the list. And, while I think you can get better sound for less, nobody does design and system control better. To say they have no technology is ridiculous. They hold numerous patents on loudspeaker design, digital amplification and signal processing (Ice Power), and have years of experience building active loudspeakers which is what is almost universally used in high end auto applications. The Beolab 5 speaker is highly regarded, even among many audiophiles. Their facilities in Struer, DK have one of most sophisticated loudspeaker design facilities in Europe. They have worked on many basic research projects along with companies like KEF and have published many papers in the AES. Their acoustic lens waveguide is perfect for car applications, giving very wide dispersion of high frequencies. I think in many ways, they're a perfect match for BMW.

At last! Looking forward to a demo and hoping they can offer something as magnificent as in current Audi Q7 (i.e. 32 channel audio ->http://www.europeancarweb.com/firstl...tem/index.html)

I agree, but the B&O sounds much better than the current BMW offerings. I would hate to think how much those upgraded sound packages might cost if they did use higher end companies!

Well, I guess it would be better than H/K, but I would be more excited if it was B&W (may be too close to BMW) or Dynaudio. My be a bit of wishful thinking, but a partnership with Meridian would have been perfect.
