haha... so true. Or even M5board with 16 year olds rocking brand new M5's. It's all relative.

Life sucks and then you die. Enjoy life while you are still able to enjoy it. Save, save, save...for what? The last time I checked the only thing you can do with money is spend it. If parents want to spend their money on their kids, let them.

Im 18 and I do admit that i have been spoiled but would like to point out that I have never ASKED for anything in my life but some change for going out when I was younger. Like someone pointed out before, if you were in that financial position and you had a good kid, wouldn't you want to put them in a safe and well driving vehicle? This topic has been beaten to death. Some people need to understand that all situations have meaningful premises and its not always some dick 18 year old with a beamer. Most of us know what we have and we take effort into trying to understand what its worth...

Too much
Then gimme mo' problems.
Yeah, I've read similar threads tho I think they don't really end badly...cuz they don't ever really end. Let's see....if...you have enough money for your own BMW and you can give one or two to your kids on a special occasion, such as Arbor Day, and you pay full sticker price without a thought, then maybe you have too much money. It irritates me that one would do this (give $40K+ car to teenager), but at least it shows good taste in automobiles. Hey, why blame the kid? What're they gonna say..."Uh, no thanks, Dad, just put it toward my tuition, and I'll use public transportation until I get to grad school, at which time I plan on buying a used Chevy."? What did Richard Pryor say? "Cocaine is God's way of telling you that you have too much money." |

I grew up knowing 2 kids in HS that were basically given whichever cars they wanted within reason. The difference between the 2 were 1 of them didn't care about them and was driving something new in a couple months because he fucked the other one up. He was the worst student and didnt even graduate HS, and is still prolly doing nothing to this day, but hey last I knew he had a new Z06.
The other cared for all of his cars. At times sacrificing them because his parents would turn them in for downpayment money on their new cars haha. He was adopted and understood that everything he gets he should be extremely gratefull for and everything could be A LOT worse off. Over the years I became good friends with this guy. Growing up kids always thought I was rich for some reason? My first car was a 90' Jeep Wrangler and somehow the equals rich. Explain that one to me haha? That was the only car bought for me. I used that car to get a newer used 02' Celica GT-S which then I graduated college worked hard for a year and a half and used the celica to get into the BMW. Overall I'm proud of myself, I was spoiled to a point growing up (no BMW's to my knowledge haha) but I still learned the value and appreciation of the objects I wanted in the future.

I dont know what is enuf money. I never met anyone who say they have too much money (and want to donate some to me). I see that a few of you think you have way too much money, my bank account is in desperate needs of funding (how about some donation)
No one ever say they have too much money, ppl are greedy in general. You give them $10, they want $20 next time.

For what its worth, I like the fact that everyone on the forum has "so much money". It allows me to see every conceivable mod on an E92 so that I can decide exactly what I want to do to mine!!!!!!!
BTW I'm 22, just graduated from college and pay for my car |

Post and Riposte
If one finds a thread tiresome, I would suggest not posting on that thread. I think what some of the posters really were saying were "Ban this thread, because some comments made offend my sensibilities."
BTW, being a newbie should be an excuse for posting about a previously discussed topic. Also, number of posts, or time on this forum do not make one an expert or authority on what topics are important in life. In fact, it may be evidence of the contrary. |

I wonder why people don't realize that the average BMW owner is not 17. The fact that we're on an internet forum for cars brings the average age of the participants down probably 15 years. Even so, I'd guess most guys with BMWs work pretty damned hard one way or another.

I'm not 17, but i'm probably too young to have "worked hard" to get a 335. It took a little help. It wasn't really a gift, after going to undergrad and med school on completely full rides, my dad was nice enough to give me a bit of the college fund he'd set up for me and my sister, who also enjoyed free rides to undergrad and business school. So its not like I paid for my 335i, I suppose UNC did. Hahahahah. So now that the schooling is all behind us, I've got residency with my 335i, my sister's working with wachovia in a new S4, and my dad just put himself on the waitlist for a 911Turbo.
So i mean, sure, i didn't exactly go to work everyday to get my 335i, but being a nerd who sacrifices a social life to be the best at what he does can reap pretty nice rewards Coming from AZine, I know alot of youth who've gotten new 30+K cars, and they all seem to be good kids. Hopefully, being spoiled from an early age will give them a drive to maintain that lifestyle. I can honestly say that if I hadn't been fed with at least a bronze spoon, that I probably wouldnt have had the drive to spend the first 26 years of my life in school to maintain the style of living that my parents had raised me on. Anyway, to the members of the board, regardless of age, I respect you all as members of the e90post community.
