Many (namely the chichat thread) will say otherwise, but yes.
What else should I get out of the way...Vince Vaughn sucks, Seth Rogen sucks, and pretty much anyone who's a regular in those movies sucks. Can't really think of many recent comedies that I didn't think sucked. Comedy movies died when Adam Sandler stopped being funny...Anchorman and Dodgeball (despite VV) were realistically the latest comedy movies I found funny. Everything since has just been stupid, forced, and generally retarded. IMHO, of course. |

LOL. I love Entourage, man. Ever since then, I've aspired to be a famous, green-guzzling douchebag. I didn't know people actually disliked that show.. I even know some girls who like it lol.

Comedy wise...Billy Madison will never be beat in my book. Happy Gilmore, Tommy Boy, etc...those are my favorite comedies. I also thought Idiocracy was surprisingly funny. Maybe I'm missing something but the latest "crop" just comes across as desperate and trying to hard IMO...kinda like most stand up. No one plays a character anymore, or if they are (though I doubt it) it's the same film to film and it's just a "regular guy" type character. Now I'm certainly not awarding Adam Sandler or Chris Farley and acting awards, but Vince Vaughn is the exact same in every movie, Seth Rogen is the exact same in every movie, same with all their friends they put in movies and who are now getting their own. It's just tired...I was tired of it in the first 30min of Knocked Up. |

Hands down 40 Year Old Virgin is the funniest of these new set of movies. Forgetting Sarah Marshall was funny too. I saw the Hangover and just didn't see what everyone was so hyped about. Same thing with Hot Tub Timemachine. Could be my age though (30) because I loved all the American Pie movies back in the day. I'll Netflix it when it comes out.

I think hangover was too over-hyped. I came in expecting comedy gold, and left disappointed. |

I think the problem is that people like you guys don't care too much for the comedies with the senseless, empty, stupid, raw humor (which is a trait shared in all of the shit you don't like). I, however (and apparently most of everyone else lol) love that shit. Its a good departure from trying to decipher and interpret every fucking twist and plot found elsewhere.
Sometimes, no thought is good.
