I've never been an Obama fan but at least now he's not making the US seem weak. I'm very surprised he's involving us here when in Iran two years ago there were many valid protests against the Iranian dictator Ahmadinejad and Obama did nothing. But after Egypt many other countries such as libya will do this. Iran will be next followed by the Emirates.

Sadly, this isn't the only thing. None of it really gets any press, though.

I think some of you are forgetting that France struck first. One of their jets blew up a truck or something and then we blew the shit out of their air defense (possibly?). What also makes this different from Iraq and what Bush did is that Obama sent Clinton to talk with the Arab League and they told her/us that they want Gaddafi out, and the UN seems to feel the same way. Also when he calls the entire population of Benghazi (I think) traitors, and he's determined to put down any rebellion with military force, that's millions of people he's probably going to kill in that city alone. The fact that the US isn't deploying ground troops (and I think UK and France won't either, at least right now) suggests that they possibly know something we don't, and maybe we're just there to support the rebels by taking out Gaddafi's artillery so they can overthrow Gaddafi themselves. Bush just started a war with false intelligence and before he thought things through with other nations. Sometimes I'm critical of Obama too, and I wish we didn't try to be the world police, but as far as I can tell he isn't doing what Bush is doing.
p.s. Now Italy is sending jets to Libya.

In this case he's helping to put down a leader who's threatening to kill millions of his own people. I don't think it's worth returning the Nobel prize over.

Don't be fooled, the Arab League is a joke. They beg us to help them then they turn around and blame us because they are pussies that won't do anything themselves to protect their own people and stabilize their region. They would rather have foreigners foot the bill and risk their lives. They are a bunch of hypocritical assholes.
See what I mean... "Military officials are said to be assessing the damage after at least 110 missiles were fired by the US and UK. After an attack by French planes, some 14 bodies were lying near destroyed military vehicles outside the rebel-held city of Benghazi, Reuters says. The head of the Arab League has criticised the bombardments. His comments are significant because the Arab League's support for the no-fly zone was a key factor in getting UN Security Council backing for the resolution authorising the move. "What is happening in Libya differs from the aim of imposing a no-fly zone, and what we want is the protection of civilians and not the bombardment of more civilians," said Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa. BBC state department correspondent Kim Ghattas says if no Arab states participate in the no-fly zone, and there is criticism from the Arab world, the US could decide to pull out. The UK and France had also been told the Arabs would participate, she adds." Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12798568 |

If this was bush, the presi and all his lil cabinet buddies would be getting flamed hard by the media.
Just heard this watching headline news: "Both Dems, reps, and inds have come together and agreed they are all doing the right thing" Do you honestly think that would be the case if it was the right winger layin the hammer down? Why the hell do we care? Someone please enlighten me. Wheres our interest in Libya, besides the fact that we are America and we are practically expected to invade any threat to democracy/anything that isnt consistent with our governing ideals and morals. Why are we always this "Humanitarian Big Brother", It fucking pisses me off. People are being slaughtered by governmental entities all over the world.. Better go fuck w/ their shit too. Oh, and like this shit is free? Lets piss some more money away, YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Quote:

Four Qatari war planes were deployed in Libyan skies on Sunday, the French defense ministry said, as other Arab warplanes were moving to positions near Libya to participate in the Western military operation that has effectively established a no-fly zone. ... Meanwhile, aircraft from the United Arab Emirates were due to arrive Sunday at the Decimomannu air force base on the Italian island of Sardinia, which is already hosting four Spanish F-18 fighter jets that arrived on Saturday. So far it seems that the Arab League is keeping their promise.... so far. From - http://www.alarabiya.net/articles/20...20/142258.html

The only thing i can say about Libya is that AT LEAST Europe is willingly involved in it. When France goes to war, theres a damn good reason. We won't take as big of a hit to our world image if our involvement goes south later down the road.
