Keep your mouth clean after surgery by frequently rinsing w saltwater and you'll be fine. You don't want to get an infection commonly known as "dry socket".

Hey Man,
I'm currently a dental student so I have some knowledge about what your gonna go through. In fact, after finals I'm gonna get my own wisdom teeth pulled! (I'm not happy either) But really, the pain will depend on your case. If your teeth are fully impacted within your mandible or maxilla, then you will indeed experience much pain because of the swelling involved. If this is the case, they will have to remove the bone surrounding the tooth inorder to pull the tooth out. If you are nervous, dentists can do the procedure under IV sedation, or using nitrous. Hope this helps! PM me for more info.

I had a single wisdom tooth, upper left side. It was impacted which meant the dental surgeon had to cut into the bone. He had me numbed up so well I didn't feel anything until the tooth fell down onto my tongue.
I was given a prescription for Tylenol-3 (codeine). Didn't take any but around 8 pm the anesthetic started wearing off. At 9 pm it was aching; at 10 pm hurting; at 11 pm I was in agony; at midnight I was crying, it hurt so bad. I took one Tylenol-3 and at 12:30 the pain was gone and it never came back. True story: I had this done between my Sophomore and Junior years in college. At the end of my Sophomore year my GPA was 3.3; at the end of my Junior year it was 3.1. I guess they're called "wisdom teeth" for a reason. Good luck. Oh, the saltwater is to keep the bacteria at bay. Same results as with brushing your teeth with baking soda.

Glad to hear it went well.
You're lucky man. I had mine done 3 weeks before I moved off to college my freshman year, back in 2000. I've had tons of surgeries throughout my life and apparently built up some immunity to the IV, so the doctor told me I started waking up and had to dose me again, with an amount of someone more than double my size. At the time I think I barely weighed 130, lol. I was out cold for nearly 2 days, and bled for weeks. I had one tooth sitting on a nerve and another in my sinus cavity. That one caused a black eye for some reason. While the surgery sucked, the best part was waking up to one HOT-ASS nurse. |
