Another thing, he is actually not growing indoors. He rented a house with some land in ridding califroina and is growing out side. How much does a typical plant harvest?

Also, DEA can walk in and take all of the plants, they wont bust you, but they will confiscate the plants right from you. Taxes will be paid to state and federal or they will get your ass too, keep everyone happy and you wont be messed with.

It is definitely possible to bring home 50k-100k per crop, but it has to be done by people who know what they're doing, and have done it in the past.
i think it's likely an indoor grow. unless they're in the mountains of norcal or something. i wouldn't really want a outdoor grow. what if someone steals your plants, yo! haven't you seen the "green rush?" if not, check it out on hulu.

Outdoor grown can vary, anywhere from as less as 6 ounces, to 1-2 pounds. Depends on the bud and the grower

depending on your situation, if you're doing everything by the books and paying all your taxes, i would actually introduce myself to the local DEA or whatnot. maybe make friends with mayor or police chief. seriously. if they know where you are anyways, i'd make it a point of being on good terms.

yield depends on strain and also indoor/outdoor grow. you can either research it via the internets or in a book.

Weed is the unspoken cash crop of redding ca. I would not be shocked if op's friend was considering out door growing there (still probably not a great idea...)

There was a show about how marijuana was basically keeping the whole community alive.

Friend of mine lives in Tahoe... he is going home with 2k a week clean. He moved out there with his girlfriend and best friend. They live an awesome life. Snow mobiles and snow boarding all winter. Wake boarding and dirt bikes all summer. He did mention it took some time to go through all the licensing and it isn't as if it grows it self. It does take commitment.

If your growing under the 215 laws, there is no profit allowed. Once you start making a profit - it's not longer a collective, and it becomes growing with intent to sell, which is a felony in CA still.

the prescription you are referring to is a caregivers license, meaning that you can grow for other prescription holders who can not grow for themselves, and you will need copies of all those licenses form those people (or some people) to keep on file at the place you are growing from, to maintain the presence of a legal garden. without proper documentation, you will get rolled. Its not an if, its a when.

licenses grant 6 plants per person, so you will need 16 people with prescriptions on file for your your garden to be legal. Along with all parties over the age of 18 living in the residence or tending the garden being cardholders also. If children are present, it wont fly and it will count as negligence.

Now with a 3 month grow span, im assuming this is a house, with a large hydroponic system in it, HPS lighing and ventilation, which will rack up some large energy bills and will attract attention very fast from Edison (power company) and thus, the cops.

A lot goes in to making this a legal process, and from the sound of it your buddy just wants to "wing" it, so be careful.

Didnt see this part....

If hes in Redding then he will have some competition, and depending on the strain that you are growing, the nutrients you feed and the lighting it gets, will all effect the yield. In general outdoor plants can reach up to 15 feet tall for sativa varieties and yield easily 4 pounds a plant.

but outdoor does not work on a 3 month cycle. More like 7-9 months.

California is going to crap because our spending is uncontrolled and every politician in every district is getting a 100K + salary for doing nothing but lay off teachers. If CA was smart it would impose a tax on 215 users, or the dispensaries at least, which is untapped millions of dollars a year.

but no, instead we try and slam together a budget full of clauses and bad math so our backwards "leaders" can keep there paychecks and benefits.

Also, my best friend has cancer and is 215 patient, I dont think he is a loser at all for choosing to smoke or ingest marijuana to ease his pain instead of being pumped with a bunch of expensive prescription drugs that do more damage to the body then marijuana does in the first place.

and if Louisiana would lighten up on there laws, they would have more time to put there money and efforts in to rebuilding the state actually and curing the rampant crack problem they have in New Orleans, but hey, whatever works...

i dunno... that sounds too easy. my friend's dad was going to invest in a dispensary in sacramento and perhaps grow his own but he said the legal work was very extensive which is why he ddint bother.

No sir. You just sound ignorant amongst people who actually know whats good. And this thread is the wrong thread to come in here with this attitude. Have some conduct, and kindly leave this thread. You dont know nearly as much as you think.

Thank you, and have a good day.

CNBC had a special on this very subject today...very interesting...alot of professional types getting into it...a huge growth field...but dont flaunt it...states have jurisdiction as Obama told feds to back off....CNBC interviewed one guy who flaunted it on tv cause he thought it was totally legal but he was arrested and doing 5 yrs now...its only legal if the govt decides they dont want to pursue it but you give them a reason, they can and will pursue legal action.

You guys should listen to the show, it was good.
