I pass on both Android and iPhone... I've got Android now and I'm jumping to Windows Phone 7 next.
Bring me my phone Nokia...

Wow, lots of Android hate here.. I love my Android device, and it actually costs more than an iPhone.. ah well.

hey bud, I want the phone to Vibrate WITHOUT having a ring/alert when it is not on silent, and not vibrate when it is on silent.. and if your so smart, go sit down and try doing that and you'll see it does not work
but I figure it out, I had to record silence (or buy a silent ring tone) and set this as the tone, because simply choosing "none" in text tone, the phone will not vibrate when on non silent, even if the vibrate is chosen. so I have selected vibrate, and this silent tone I downloaded, now it vibrates only without making any alert notification sounds on non silent. Cannot opperate iPhone = should not drive a BMW. You must be one of those C&D writers who cannot opperate the iDrive and give it bad reviews.
* FYI - I use the Jitterbug phone

Why your phone problem is posted on a BMW forum is beyond me.

if you don't know how to use it then ask before you complain. Go to settings. Go to Sounds. It becomes clear that you can turn OFF vibrate when on SILENT. Random though...why would you want sound ON if you don't want to hear your ringtone? You just want to hear the clicks of your keys? microsoft logic fail.

Having the phone "vibrate without having a ring/alert when it is not on silent" is called having the phone on vibrate, and when you have the phone already on vibrate you can go into the settings and turn vibrate off to just have it on silent always. It's not Apple's fault you can't navigate basic phone menus
