I have seen very few people who have been able to replicate magazine numbers at the race track. And the performance is extremely track dependent.

5.6L. 305HP. 0-60 about 7.1. I can slide around a corner, both wheels spinning. 14MPG . If my 335 was not a lease I would look into LSD.

2. Adding a FI twin turbo setup to the NA G35 would cost an additinal $5k, while the 335i is already a FI tt with about 320+ BHP/340+ lb.-ft. TQ. 3. With the XEDE or PROcede, the 335i dynos at 320+WHP (380+BHP) and 370+ lb.-ft. RWTQ (440+ lb.-ft. TQ). FI twin turbo is just a better, faster, higher TQ setup to begin with. btw - I came from a loaded, modded '04.5 G35 and a loaded FX35...great cars, but the BMW 335i is just better and worth the extra $$, imho.

Twin turbo is def the way to go over n/a all day and i wish infiniti offered it stock. But for the 5 grand id spend to install, id still be at 44k on my car which comes with a hell of lot more options then the 50k beemer, which is why i choose the G ( besides that i just like the look of it better). I also didnt really like the lack of side knee room in the 3 which is another reason i didnt get it. My friend told me he ran one with his coupe from like 70 up, it was a 335 sedan and he said the thing outrite smoked him by like 7 cars so im guessin that car was proceded. Im not knockin the beemer, im just sayin dont always believe car mags...there basiclyy full of shit lol. |

btw -- I understand what you're saying, but with so many articles, reviews, and real-world 335i drivers getting the same numbers over and over, it's quite clear that even those that are "paid off," are not exaggerating the performance of a stock 335i and a PROcede 335i. Check these out, specifically Automobile Mag's 2 articles (and dynos) on the stock 335i, BusinessWeek.com, Edmunds.com's reviews of the stock 335i, and of course C&D... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hp?t=74&page=3 From the BusinessWeek.com article... "For starters, this new BMW coupe is significantly faster than BMW rates it. The company says the 335i will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds with an automatic transmission and 5.3 seconds with a stick shift. Don't believe it. I easily got my test 335i with an automatic to do the trick several times in under 5 seconds. My fastest time was a blazing 4.8 seconds. That's four ticks faster than my best time in the Lexus IS 350 and two ticks faster than my best time in a Chevy Corvette with an automatic transmission (see BusinessWeek.com, 7/6/06, "The No-Sweat 'Vette")." http://www.businessweek.com/autos/co...tm?chan=search From the Edmunds.com article... "Consider the facts: This 2007 BMW 335i test car blazed from zero to 60 in 4.8 seconds. BMW says the new coupe mit twin-turbo engine and Steptronic six-speed autobox should make that trip in 5.5 seconds. Seven-tenths of a second quicker? That's 13-percent better than BMW's claim. Folks give aftermarket tuners wads of cash for that kind of performance bump, especially when a car starts out in the mid 5s to begin with. Our 335i similarly scalded the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds at 105.9 mph. For comparison, our 2005 M3 Competition Package used up 5.5 seconds getting to 60 and finished the quarter-mile in 13.7 seconds at 105.4 mph — close, but still a rearview-mirror performance. We almost beat the all-powerful 2007 Audi RS4, too. Despite a 120-horsepower advantage and all-wheel-drive launch superiority, it just nicked our 335i's 0-60 and quarter-mile times by a paltry 0.1 second each." http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...otopanel..1.0* From the 2nd Automobile Mag article (dyno)... "We strapped the 335i down, started it up, and did three runs back to back to back. The results were very consistent, showing peaks of 285 hp, then 282 hp, and, finally, 287 hp. This 335i was even stronger at the top end than the last one, but not as strong in the midrange. Peak torque was stable through all three runs at about 285 lb-ft. After the final run, we decided to grab audio of the 335i running from first gear through fourth. We expected to have the hairs on the back of our neck stand up at the sound of the 3.0-liter engine at full throat, but what we didn’t expect, of course, was a peak hp number nudging the 300-hp mark. That’s right--shortly after the shift into fourth, this second 335i peaked briefly at 299.93 hp. Looking closely at the chart, there’s a likely explanation for that outrageous number. No, it wasn’t additional torque from a rough shift--the peak occurred too long after the gear change. Like most turbocharged cars, the computer allows a momentary spike of boost before stabilizing it at a prescribed level. We lucked out, as that spike happened right at the engine’s inherent power peak, so we got a little nudge in the final number. Whether the dyno numbers ultimately translate into 300 hp, 350 hp, or 327.543-to-the-fifth-power-hp, the results speak for themselves: this is one very powerful engine." http://www.automobilemag.com/feature...sed/index.html From the C&D article... 2007 BMW 335i - Road Tests Beauty and the Boost. Nice looking G, man. I love the aggressive look of the prev. gen. G35 Coupe...nice wheels too! ; I think they mucked it up for '08, but that's imho. btw -- do you have a SC or Turbo setup in your G35 and what did it dyno at?
On my '04.5 G35 Sedan, I didn't have FI, but I had the Z-tube/K&N filter, 3/8" Plenum Spacer, 12-wire Grounding Gear, and Coupe midpipe...loved that car, but I still think my 335i Coupe is better. To answer your question, the stock 335i's twin turbos max out at ~ 11psi, but with the PROcede, they go up to ~ 13-14psi as well as changing the maps to run richer when under boost, and leaner when cruising w/o boost.

i have the aps tt with a built motor.
next week im sending it off to GTmotorsports for the aps extreme twin turbo kit with twin in tank pumps and bigger turbo's along with external wastegates. at 8.5 psi i dynoed 420rwhp i have it at 12 right now but i havnt dynoed. this is on the regular aps kit. ill have the extreme here soon so 12 psi on that bad boy should be a bit different. i plan to keep this car and im still on the fence as to what to get the M3 or 335i and go all out again. or the new audi S5. ill be on here doing some serious research over the next few months. i love the new 335i dont get me wrong! just cant let you guys pick on the vq35 like that cause there are a few monsters around and they will b more then happy to show you what nissan power is all about. ps! those m6 reps look sick man! |

and as i stated before...real world run ins with 335's in my 06 coupe didnt prove those numbers to right at all. and very recently a run in with an 05 smg m3 convertable didnt prove that car was to serious either. and m3's were one of my fav cars on the road for a long time. Like i said i know this for a fact, that car mags are super biased. BMW being one of those cars that they are especially super biased towards becasue they have a reputation to hold especially with there 3 series. I still love the 335, esp the coupe but on the bright side last week my cousin bought an interlargos blue/black int m6 convertable-smg. (to me thats when you say I drive a bmw). It's also hands down one of my fav cars out there. The sticker on the car was 117k...I took him to pick the car up in long island ny. From the showroom he had to go to their service department to have the bluetooth checked. 2 hours later he came by the dealership finally and it still wasnt working properly. The next day his nav and stereo went out and he had to bring the car in to service were it stood another 3 days lol. This is why Im glad I bought a NISSAN. |

How lame is that! I test drove a G35 a couple of weeks ago, just for the fun of it. I wasn't impressed at all. Sorry... I don't care that the G35 costs less money....I will never drive like a BMW. That is why the 3 series keeps winning all the comparisons. Not as reliable? Perhaps....but still a winner!

Personally, I like the '07 G35, especially the high-tech stuff, but when I compared the performance (speed and handling) and transmission (BMW 6AT ZF tranny vs. Infiniti's still slow, 5AT tranny with a 1/2 sec. upshift delay just like my '04.5 G35), and much more TQ in the 335i, the choice was easier...the BMW 335i just drives better...period. btw -- my loaner cars (for Navi software update and 1 minor issue) have been the following: 1 '07 335i Sedan and 1 '08 535i Sedan, so I was very used to them, except that they were much slower than my PROcede-equipped 335i.

There are a couple vids and pics floating around these forums now that confirm both the stock and Xede/Procede performance of the 335i. Saying that the mag times are biased or too optimistic is a null point now. The G35 is a great car and the G37 looks like it is going to be really great.
However, the 335 is faster than the G35 stock vs. stock. The modded vs. modded arguements get old. I could go out and buy a fox body Mustang for 3k and spend 1k on a NOS system or 3k on a Vortech S/C and have a fast car but who wants that? Jason
