You know what I'm doing

I don't even know if it's a Mac problem, or Google problem.

i cant wait for the 2012 macbook pros. My macbook is a 2008 and has been flawless. I have never had any problems with it. My HP(before) died within the year I had it. My battery even died out on my macbook cause its old, and I got it for free O-0. Not sure why because I don't have warranty or anything LOL. I just came in and told the guy my battery wasn't charging anymore and he swaped mine on the spot and i didnt have to pay lol

PC laptops are made to go out exactly 1 month after the warranty expires.

Mac's (or any apple problem) you take to your local apple store and they fix it FREE of charge.

I have had a screen go out, and a keyboard go out, $1800 worth of parts, they replaced for free, same day.

Did you buy the MBP used? If you did, you should reformat it.

Buy a Mac and run Parallels with Windows 7. Best of both worlds.

Only if it's under warranty. That's just like PC's with the exception that Apple actually has stores vs. mail in repair for PC's. It depends on the PC you get, if you got a cheap PC it's obviously not as good as a higher end one. You get what you pay for. Funny you talk about PC's dying but mention your Mac having a screen and a keyboard replaced.

I still find it amusing that everyone thinks mac's are somehow superior hardware. They are identical to PC's. They use the same memory, hard drives, Intel processors, chipsets, audio/video cards, NICs, etc. Hardware wise, they are the same shit. Of course there are diff types of memory, drives etc. but if you buy a quality PC it's the same hardware as a mac. The only real thing that differentiates a mac form a PC nowadays is the OS.

I can say the same thing for PC's. I have several Lenovo Thinkpads which are their high end laptops and have had zero issues with them with years of use. Like I said, you get what you pay for.

Apples's engineering is far superior (e.g magnet charge port). I know the internal hardware is the same, but the housing is much better and they're the most reliable computer for a reason, even better than ASUS.

OK, I'll give you that. They do have better fit and finish than most PCs and have nifty things like the power/magnet connection. I don't hate Mac's, on the contrary, I like them, just not for me. I do way too much and need the full power that only a PC can provide with its practically unlimited apps and customization. Most users are simple, they just want Internet access, email, music, etc. and/or don't want to take time to learn how to avide getting a virus, which mind you never just infects a PC, it's always initiated by the user. In that case, a Mac is perfect for you.

Well said. Mac's have some pretty neat things about them. Was always interested, but I usually just build/upgrade my own PC, so it doesn't matter for me. I'm not anti-Apple either, I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4. Just don't see the advantage of a mac over my PC, for me anyway.

As long as you're not a computer idiot, you're chances of being infected by a system-destroying virus are pretty much nonexistant. Couldn't tell you how many times I help my parents fix their PC, but that's because they click everything they see.

That's 99% of users out there which is why Mac's are great for them. I found through all the years of helping people get rid of viruses, that no amount of education will ever get rid of their bad habit, knee jerk reaction of clicking everything they see without reading or understand what it is they are clicking on or even attempting to do. Bunch of sheep.

I use my MBP a majority of the time. I also have a Lenovo Thinkpad and I can attest to the build quality of both. They are fine machines and I almost wish my MBP had a fingerprint reader like my Thinkpad.

Handy feature that.

As to the OP's issue, my mom's MBP did this and I reset her network settings and voila, problem gone and hasn't returned.

My other issue was power, battery length, and their OS seems to be much more smooth too. I do a shit ton on this machine. Did the same amount on Widows and my only issue was the lack of quality housing/hardware, and virus'. I have never, ever, just clickidy-clicked and got a virus. Well take that back, when I was 12 and a newb on finding pron I may have locked a few of my mom's towers. But since then, I learned to work on computers and remove virus' and I never had a problem. P2P is my only issue on getting virus'.

I wiped the machine yesterday, and deleted the disk. Works fine now.

To get a virus you either visit a webpage and click on a link, pop up or something else. From P2P you get it when you open something with a virus in it. From email you get it when you open an attachment that contains a virus.

Do you notice a pattern here? To get a virus the user has to be part of the process, they need to click or open something. It's common sense, don't open or click on shit from untrusted sites, people, email, etc. If you need to open an executable, check it with your virus scanner first to be safe.

I never click wishy-washy sites, links, emails, or anything of that nature. The only time I do is when I click P2P downloads and pop-ups come screaming out. I had A/V's that you recommended, and ran malwarebytes once a month and they got through somehow. But I know it was my downloading habbits that caused it. But not just pure ignorance like clicking on A/V 2012!!!!

You should scan what you DL from P2P before you click on it. Scanning after the fact is assbackwards, brollins.
