Two things,
First I live by the rule no good deed goes unpunished so when things like this happen, the lack of thanks for your help etc, it's no nig deal I am prepared.

Second I ignore people like that, just look at them with a totally blank stare and if they say something I usually repsond with did you say something. They get the message sooner or later

I've had to break of friendships once or twice. You'll probably feel better about yourself if you actually tell him you don't want to talk to him anymore. It's more respectful. And he'll know you don't want his attention rather then him showing up unannounced once in a while and pestering you.

I'd get a restraining order. Nothing like using the law to your advantage. Or you could do significantly less legal things to put the fear of god in him
