Agreed...430 or R8.
I would honestly go for Ferrari though. The 360 is as fast or the same as an M3 these days, no?

Read the reviews about the R8 automatic - a bunch of negative reviews saying how clunky and "not smooth" the shifts were on the automatic vs. the 6-speed.
Just make sure you're good with it. |

I think I am leaning more towards the R8 end as well. If everything is in check this weekend, than I might just pick it up while I am down there and schedule a transport. And we will certainly have to meetup. The weather is so nice lately...not being out in our rides would be a crime.

When you have an M3, I don't think getting a V8 R8 makes sense. You're paying all that money for looks honestly... V10 R8 is a different story, you're getting a baby Gallardo.
I don't think speed is important. I think it is the sensation that matters. So I wouldn't care how slow an F360 is.. That being said F360 is way too old, and not in a good way. It is not an classic, desirable Ferrari. If I were you, I'd aim for an F430. PS: There was a joke in Top Gear regarding how unfriendly the F360's handling is... They said it is called F360, because it spins a lot

Sometimes I think people just make these threads to feel cool. I'm sure the majority of F, L and P-car owners don't come on here asking these questions, they do their research, test drive, find out what they like and then make a decision. |

Get the R8, more reliable, better ride, better handling, better tech.
BTW, if you were looking at financing, check out the new ones. I am in the market as well, and I just got a quote for a 2012 R8 V8 Man, with $6500 down, and a lease payment of $2,048 a month; for the V10, $2,350 a month. When I looked at financing a used R8, with less than 10K miles, I found that most V10 payments were over $2500 a month, with more money down, and V8s about the same price as leasing new. If you are paying cash, go used, you will get a better deal. If you are focused on payment, go new. Audi dealers are discounting the hell out of the R8s because a minor design update is said to be coming in 2013, and these big discounts off MSRP might be a result of it. PM me if you want more info. |

And not every supercar or prospective supercar owner does their own self-due diligence in a dark corner. You can make this assumption, because the majority of these owners are much older. I'm in my 30's and I have posted on a forum, I feel, has knowledgeable and friendly posters who can give sound advise. Since I have received so much for my M. When you're ready to throw down $80+K on a ride of your dreams...don't post...do your private due diligence and enjoy the car all your own. To every man his own....

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, get the 360. When you already have an M3, why buy another practical sports car? My opinion is that if you are going to get a weekend car, you might as well forget about practicality and buy something radically different that you will truly enjoy driving on those special occasions. I don't see the R8 being differentiated enough from the M3's powerplant to be worth it. The 360 is more than quick enough to get you into trouble, and it has that wonderful mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive layout with a sonorous engine soundtrack.
I think your only question should be, "Can I afford/deal with an expensive maintenance schedule?" If the answer is Yes, go with the 360. If the answer is no, or you are completely averse to a car that might break down once in a while, then go with the R8. |

In a sense, i agree with you, if I were to buy a V8 R8, I would sell the M3, the cars are too similar in performance.

Not to be cocky but an M3 out here will cost $100,000, give or take $10,000. I did not come on the forums and ask for any advice, heck I didn't even test drive the car, I wanted it because it was my dream car ever since I first saw it in 07 back in the UK (home country). Now as for your extra cash, send it my way I'll get you 500% returns in Q2 alone. Also, do you need a second car or you just want it because you have the extra cash? If it is the latter why don't you just get an ESS SC on your ///M? Throw some nice BBS' on there and call it a day. BBK if you really want lol. |

R8
cost of maintenance and upkeep would be less than the Ferrari. Also agree with others that the Ferrari looks dated. Last edited by MDyDinanM; 03-08-2012 at 02:28 PM.. |

Here's a test.
Hot chick asks, "what kind of car do you drive?" You say, "an Audi" Hot chick says, "oh" 2nd Scenario: Hot chick asks, "what kind of car do you drive?" You say, "a Ferarri" Hot chick says, "ohh ohh ohh yeeeeeesssss!" True story.

Maybe his wife is a hot chick.
Here is the scenario with the wife: Wife asks, "what kind of car did you buy?" You say, "an Audi" Wife says, "that's nice honey" 2nd Scenario: Wife asks, "what kind of car did you buy?" You say, "a Ferarri" Wife says! "@&98(&@! sonofa@&$7?);" So, the car you want is relative to whether or not you are married.
