So you're saying I should sell my car in Singapore instead?

Not even for people who move there? With my earlier thought of going to Europe, the loophole would be that I have to have the title in my name for 6 mos in the US, and 1 year in the Netherlands. After that I was free to sell it without extra taxes

I'd have to go find out. All I know is, none of the many Singaporeans (and non-Singaporeans) I know who have worked overseas for several years (and bought really nice cars when they were abroad) have ever brought them back to Singapore. So I'm guessing there either isn't such a loophole or the financial penalty is still too high to make it worth their while.

The high COE makes it more "worthwhile" to buy a bigger, fancier car than a small cheap one, when considering what proportion of the total cost of the car the COE makes up. |

Has your Bimmer been shipped to you? If not, when do you expect it's arrival? I still cannot get over the fact that it will cost you US$170,000..... |

People! Let's face it, if you can afford to be seriously thinking about buying a new BMW as we are, then you can afford the xenons. BMW know this.
It is a little frustrating that EVERY single marketing photo, advert and demo car I have ever seen has them fitted when it's actually an optional extra and IMO this slight dishonesty damages the BMW brand and integrity. Make your feelings clear when they come asking for customer feedback. Still, it's a bloody great car. |

This is absolute nonsense. Look at the pics closer...you'll notice the cars have EVERY option. Why? They'd sure hate for someone to look at the photo and say "What? That BMW doesn't have xyz? I'll buy a Cadillac instead!" It's not dishonest, it'd be dishonest if the pictured items were not available. |

Yep, cars are *gulp* EXPENSIVE here in Singapore. With my options (and those selected by the BMW distributor in Singapore), my Bimmer comes up to S$222,000 (approx US$176,500). Sadly, it's not even in production yet...sigh. May production, June shipment, I get delivery in late June or early July. Long wait. |
