IN MY OPINION The mustang is the best looking out of the 3. The Evo looks so plain it can pass as an acura. The S2000 is way to small and no offense looks rice rocket even when stock. How can you go wrong with a Mustang, sure it's 5.0 litre but it looks so aggressive and its all American muscle. The car has history and you can drive around with pride saying 'fuck yea I drive a Mustang'. To be honest if I pull up next to a Mustang, I'll feel intimidated and stare at that car for a long while just because it looks so badass lol but if I pull up next to the other 2 I'll maybe take a glance, probably look at the Evo more then the s2000 and move on. Again this is in my opinion Mustang > Evo > S2000

The only one of those I would want would be the S2k, and it would need a turbo for sure. A sub 3000lb 400+whp rwd sports car is an absolute blast to drive and will put a smile on your face every time you take it out for some fun.

Your decision should be made on how many autox events you plan on attending.
How many events do you want to do, how into it do you want to get? A s2000 will be much more forgiving autox than the 5.0. It will also be in a different class and have different competition. Now if you mod either one you will change classes and have harder competition. Thus a supercharger 5.0 is not much of a autox vehicle but a 5.0 w/o supercharger and with several $$ in suspension, brakes and tires might. I had a friend who had the bare minimum mods allowed done to a s2000( kn drop in, brake pads) and would pull some jacks and race tires and tool box on a tiny trailer behind his s2000 to auto x events. I've done a few autox events with different cars and I will tell you I had the most fun and best times with a miata with tires and good brake pads. This is because the autox I did wasn't on tracks but cone setups where you never really reach high speeds 1-2-3 gears. A 5.0 with a supercharger or even 500hp doesn't have much of a 1st gear. With that said if you plan on doing like 2-3 events a year total then by all means don't hold back and get that sexy 5.0 - preferably in that bright blue with black accents. |

Define "impossible". I'm getting ~1-2MPG less than I did in my 335 on the same daily commute, and I definitely drive the Mustang harder (I blame that engine note, but 420 horses doesn't hurt either!).... And if you look at the EPA ratings for the 335 and the 5.0, and I think they're off by 1-2 from each other (I think my '08 335 was rated at 17/26 and the 5.0 is 15/26, but the new 335 with the 8spd will be much better). Hardly a gas guzzler. The American automakers have done a real good job with V8 fuel efficiency for a while now. I'd throw in there that the 5.0 will take non-premium gas, but I think it's in the same boat as the N54/55 in that regard, it just won't run at peak power and efficiency, so that is a moot point.

I don't think you'd go wrong with any of them. I'm a former S2000 owner, so I'm voting for the S2000. That car was more fun than any car I've owned. I'm sure the other two will blow it away on power, but the S2000 never failed to put a smile on my face. It's a nice, well-balanced car with the best gearbox ever made.

Oh, and for several years (before I had kids) I used my S2000 as a daily driver without issue. I suppose it depends on what you need to haul with you, but I never had a problem.

Only exception to that is if the warranty is really a concern. I don't know too much about the S2000 maintenance costs as they get up there in age/miles, but if you shouldn't expect a lot of trouble with it, it seems like the S2000 would be the better choice in OP's situation. |

Honestly, coming from an s2000 I think the 5.0 would be better, although I don't know how reliable it will be. The s2000 was fun for a few weeks and always looked great but I grew out of quick even though I've wanted one since it the '00 models. Anyways, hope you're happy with whichever route you choose.

My vote goes to the Evo X. I'm driving my buddies right now while he is deployed and I'll tell you what the grip of that AWD system is amazing. The only way I can describe it is confidence inspiring with a mild understeer push at the limit if you have the skill to take it there. That AWD system on the X is so badass, I want one right now, but I can't get over the boy racer looks. I feel like I've out grown that phase of my life and I don't feel like racing every civic that rev's at me. Test drive all three, I have driven them all and I can't say enough of the EVO's system. Plus they're easy to mod for power.

TEST DRIVE EM ALL
but, If you are comparing to the e92 platform, with those three to choose from its the Mustang 5.0 Check the video posted earlier, that thing is awesome on the track, gets ok mileage, puts down tons of power and looks pretty menacing with a set of black wheels like that photo. yeah the interior looks ugly, ill give ya that |
