its probably a lot like the current grand priz gtp...peppy for straight-line acceleration on a roll, and sloppy loose handling. i guess itll be alright for a winter beater

I actually heard that (if the Holden is anything to base it off of...which it obviously is) it takes corners like a beast; A heavy beast mind you, but a beast nonetheless.
My one problem with the G8 is the same as that with all Pontiacs...they put that goddamn split in the middle of the front lower intake...WTF!? It'd look so much better w/o it imo...

I dont think its going to be a bad car at all. The v8 version should be faster than it is (advertised as 5.6 to 60). My cousin has a GTO and the quality is very good inside. If it did not have a pontiac emblem you would not think it was a pontiac. The biggest problem with the GTO is that they give you a 245 rear tire stock. My 330 has a 255 standars which is a joke. The wheelwell is so small you can put anything wider than a 255-265 in it. This cause major traction issues espically after you mod them. His car is so hard to keep traction in that is really slows the car down. From a roll without traction issues the car is a MONSTER. I just hope they put nicer wheels on the G8 and actually leave space for a wider tire for those who plan to modify the car. I also hope it has a trunk unlike the GTO, which has no trunk because of the fuel cell, which I am sure it will. Some people here should really go drive a GTO and see how nice it is. They were so cheap at the end that they were the same price as a mustang GT. Believe me when I tell you the GTO is a better car than the Stang and has much more power. I have a ton of respect got the GTO and if people here were open minded and really drove one and looked at what they price to buy one was then anyone would see how nice of a car it really is. The styling is the reason it did not sell well nothing else.

Alpine, you're gonna have a hard time convincing these badge-snobs how good this car is going to be.
I've been seriously considering one of these as an E90 replacement, but I think I may wait another year or so to see how they turn out. Also, I want a 6-speed manual and I'm not sure if it's gonna be available right away. |

That's right, I forgot that you are BMW salesman...
At this point I'm looking for a vehicle with a lot more low-end torque than what I'm currently driving. I hate having to downshift all the damn time just get some power . I was seriously thinking of a BMW diesel whenever they finally do arrive, but honestly the G8 seems like such a great package. For around 30k it'll have almost 400hp, rear-wheel drive, an awesome suspension (with no rear live-axle)... All in a terrific package (minus those wheels that are in those pics). Oh and screw 28 MPG, 'Vette's and F-Bodies have been able to hit 30 MPG with the LS1/LS2. GM may not produce the most fuel efficient 4 banger and V6, but they make the best V8's in respect to fuel economy. Mention a car that gets 16/26 and has 505 HP. |

it's not a bad car at all, and it's definetely a step in the right direction for pontiac.
those who knock the interior of the G8 haven't seen the pics (it has a nice interior), and forget that BMW's interiors aren't considered the best out of its competitors either. definetely a car i would consider in the future. not really my style car with a 4000lb weight but all that power + RWD would be very fun. |
