I'd be interested to see the breakdown between M owners vs other BMWs. I feel like less of a jerk having stepped up to an M3 even going out of my way to be nicer on the road.

On the highway... well... I do like to drive at a good clip.

And on rural backroads, I mean, those no passing signs are for pickup trucks, right? Not 400+ hp super-sedans, surely!

The comments for that article are interesting.

But I think the study is flawed.
1. Small population (125 "drivers") in one crosswalk, in SF.
2. How do they know the person driving the car is rich or poor just by looking or by the car they drive. I know several friends who are rich who drive non-luxury cars, and at the same time, I know some people who barely make enough to cover their lease driving BMWs.
3. What about other correlations. Age? Driving experience? Etc etc.

I'm driving safer than most people on the road, and I'm an asshole? To try to make sure I don't look like an asshole to the driver of the car I'm about to get in front of when switching lanes, I'll keep my blinker on longer than usual to see if they'll give me room. That's as far as I'll go to try to look like a "good" driver. If you still think I'm an asshole, well fuck you then.

NY Times. UC Berkeley.... you would think this guy is more legit, but what a joke of a "research". And to do it in SF??? SF, LA, NYC are like the worst cities to do driver tests. People in general can't drive regardless of what car they drive... they just happen to have more money (or front like they do) in these 3 major cities.
