I never liked the rear of the IS. Looks too wimpy. The front end is fine, but they need to redesign the rear so that it looks more substantial than a Mazda 3 or Hyundai.

I dont understand the point of having a "general cars" section on this board. All you guys do is bash. I love seeing people bashing a car that isn't even for sale yet.

There will be bias on any forum; it's expected. Not every product will appeal to everybody, and a product being on sale is irrelevant.

at 60K + I'll take a GTR any day of the week over that car. 0-60 4.7 ... isnt that that the 335i is running in some mags?

Don get me wrong ... I almost got a IS350 over my 335i ... Price + options where really attractive to me on the IS and it has ventilated seats which rock in Vegas heat. I am an Ex Turbo IS300 owner (hence my M3This screen name that I have used on forums for the last 6 years). That car was a great car but boring. Thats the thing with Lexus ... great cars ... boring cars. If you want something reliable and nice to drive a Lexus is the way to go ...but if you want something sporty and fun go somewhere else.

I think the IS-F is going to be a flop ...at 60K+ Ugly Looks (the stock IS350 is waaaaaay better looking IMO) + sounds like so so perfomance figures, whats the point?

ISF still sucks

IS - Fugly

There is so little engineering in this thing....they just stuffed a V8 and drivetrain based on the LS600 into a compact sedan.

This results in a ridiculous weight of 3805 pounds, almost the same weight as the RS4 without the Quattro.....

LSF is a POS

The GT-R is going to be WAY more than $60k you dumbass. Also, you may want to research somewhere besides this fanboy forum before you determine the IS-F's performance is just "so so."

Prices for your reference (from the GT-R preorder sheet)

Quote:
Trim levels:

* Base: 7,770,000 JPY ($66,675 USD w/ alloy wheels)
* Black Edition: 7,927,500 JPY ($68,580 USD forged wheels, black/red leather seats)
* Premium Edition: 8,347,500 JPY ($71,870 USD forged wheels, side airbags, Bose)

4.7 isnt impressive for a 60K + car sorry ... I dont care what you say ... and that number is hardly from uninformed fan boys of this site. The 335i can hit that stock. A Evo or STI can hit that stock both cars for almost 1/2 the cost.

Also you obviously havnt seen me post much (as your 44 post count shows your a Noob) as Im the farthest from a badge whoring fan boy on this site. So before you open you mouth and insult people get your facts straight. Who is the dumb ass now?

Geesh, going at it are we?

Well, i'll say that there have been IS-F tests as low as 0-60 at 4.3. 4.7 isn't bad for a 60k car at all, really. Especially not a sedan. RS-4s, 911 C2s, Cayman Ss/Boxster Ss all run the same figure pretty much. And i'm guessing it would have a better top end than pretty much all of those, minus the RS-4.

Base price to base price we're still talking $7k. Yes, the Skyline is the biggest bargain in the history of cars, outside of an EVO or a Z06, but I hardly think they're supposed to be cross-shopped. We're talking about a car that was designed to compete with the 911 turbo going against a car that was designed to compete with the M3. The GT-R shouldn't even be in this argument.

The RS-4, M3, C63 AMG, and maybe the CTS-V should be the topics of discussion when talking about the IS-F. Granted, I think the first 3 of the aforementioned cars are likely superior. But we won't know until we drive one or hear from the top automotive journalists.

Comparing the IS-F to the GTR is really just an odd comparison, even at the same price point. The E92 335 costs around the same as an M35.. and you wouldn't compare them, now would you?

The e92 M3 should be compared to the GT-R, the e90 M3 to those cars in your list. The IS-F has such a diminuitive back seat, I think it is as close to the GT-R as a C63.

Funny, I traded my M45 Sport for an e90 335i, so the comparison is not as far off for me as you might think.

Looks interesting... I test drove the IS350 and did not like it at all. Very sterile and non-communicative compared to the 3 series.

I suppose you have a good point actually. I never thought about how the m3 is often compared to the GTR. However, it's kind of a fanboy comparison. If the times are real, a GTR would make an E92 M3 look foolish.

That would be a sad day. I don't recall a time in the US where the M3 was being compared against so much.

I honestly don't think its going to come out on top anymore. The IS-F is no doubt more luxurious then the M3, the CTS/C63 are both faster in a straight line (more important then you think for the US), the GT-R seems to be more RAW (the main reason why the M3 was so successful?), and who knows what else!
