Or you can do what the crackheads do and stand at an intersection with a sign saying "Didn't follow CA law, BMW ticketed, please help, need $25". |

Someone backed into my GF's car while it was parked in front of her work. I guess the dude had a giant trailer hitch that punched a large square hole through her front plate, plastic plate mount and the bumper.
She got the same parking ticket for no front license plate right in front of our house, even though she had the plate. I spoke to some random cop trying to get him to sign off on it but he said since it's not a fixing ticket he could not do anything and we have to pay. His words were "Just pay $25 and move on, but i would get new plates if i were you, because these cunts will ticket you over and over". Basically if more than 1/4 of the plate is missing, it is considered a "no plate", even though she was missing 1/8 of the plate tops. We went to DMV to have the plate re-issued, and they refused to do it because they only re-issue if both plates are destroyed or stolen.

Okay when I was in CA, and it has been a while the meter-maids were private companies doing the work for the cities and as such they could only ticket for parking or local ordnance violations. If they are part of the actual police department then I agree with your point.

But if it's just a fix it ticket, can't you just get a tow hook plate so you dont have to drill holes and then claim it fixed? probably cost you about the same amount either way. |

Regardless, it's your choice to have plates on or not. Some people drive for years without getting caught and some get caught on the first day. Judging by your story, you are the latter. I drove with no plates on for 5 years and have finally given up. Got tickets from both cops and parking maids. To me it wasn't worth the hassle. Rho-plate looks pretty good imo, and does the job. |

this thread is pretty much the exact reason most people hate BMW drivers. Stop making us look bad OP.

Good to know that Indiana still produces some brilliant ones... We are "half brained" as you say because we didn't assume you hadn't gotten your plates.

Colorado requires front plates. The meter maids ticket for it in downtown Denver and Boulder. I haven't run a front plate in 7 years and no ticket. Now watch I get one tomorrow ::crosses fingers::

I don't understand why people who don't run front plates even bother with running rear plates. Just keep the dealer plate on

Not sure what is the BS part in this situation.
You didn't put up a front plate and they got you the ticket that was made to stop what you are doing. |

I mean, you could go extra sneaky and tape a bogus temp registration to the corner of your windshield, but I have no idea what kind of legal trouble that could get you in. |
