Who would have thought a thread about ceiling fans would get so much chatter?

Reminds me of a fan I saw at my last trip to Lowes. I loved it, but I thought spending $300 on a fan was too much I can't imagine $2600
This one is a 6ft: http://www.lowes.com/pd_198689-88854...3D6&facetInfo= |

Excellent value for a pretty good looking fan but 6ft is a little too small for my application.

How large of a room at you looking at, since bigger is not always better. I just put in 2 ceiling fan in my house one in a Large family with a vaulted ceiling and the other was in a little smaller room. Fan are usually size for the sqft of the space it can circulate air. I put a 5 ft one in my family room and it was designed to handle up to 300 sqft. I know you like the bigass fan but unless your room is large enough it may be over kill. The ideal of the fan is not to move lots of air quickly but to keep air moving so hot or cold spot do not build up. I know lots of people do not like when they actually have air hitting them. The interesting past of the bigass fans it is their controller, it a seven speed verse the 3 you get at most DIY places, but I know you can get controllers which are variable speed, lot more expense but it allows you to keep the air flow just right without all the noise and the feel of air blowing around the room. |

So here's a crappy Sketchup render of what the living room layout is from both sides. I'm going thru renovations again in August to add the wooden divider wall and stone work on the large wall (also some additional kitchen and yard work). That big ass ball lamp is in the dead middle of the living room right now and I plan to have it moved to a corner so I can accommodate my projector and a fan. This is the reason why I'm researching fans right now and I also need something in 220v since I live in Hong Kong.
And once again, sorry for the crappy render as Sketchup is the only program my patience will allow.

It's really hard to get a feel for the room layout because those renderings are so crappy...

I’ll admit I’m not the greatest at art & design. But I think I captured the detail and beauty of the blades. It’s truly an amazing piece. I highly recommend the 72 inch blade.

What about the row of blades that swing back and forth? If you lined it up right, it would "sweep" the air into your open spaces.

Casablanca. Installed many of these over the years (specifically the isotope and stealth models) and they have never disappointed. Super quiet, they move a ton of air, wireless remote controls, etc.
I've got an architect friend who designed their own house and specifically made a giant living room so that they could put in a 10' BAF. Really expensive, but it's really does make the room... as odd as that sounds. Just something about how slow it moves that's mesmarizing to watch. |
