I can't seem to figure out how to post a pic, but I have a Beretta 9mm APX RDO.
It's all factory at the moment, but I'll probably upgrade to a Competition firing pin assembly and a new guide rod with recoil spring.

Are you talking about the 'kiosk' method of efiling?

I’m honestly pretty new to the whole NFA thing. Living in MA there’s not a huge crowd to learn from and this was my first attempt. Mine got rejected 3 weeks after I submitted so they did get to it. I didn’t know I was supposed to send in a photocopy of my LTC

I got a kid on the way, who makes good gun safes?
I don't need those huge Fort Knox looking ones, just need one to hold basically a SBR and some pistols so kid can't get to it. |

Well you can get the cheap gun cabinets, or an actual safe. If you are just looking to keep a kid/baby away, then the cabinets would suit you fine. I have a Stack-On that does the job just fine.

If your only concern is safety then get just a gun lock for $20. A gun locker is the next level. If you want a true safe then I would say Browning is amongst the top for a reasonable price.

Depending on where you live, you probably could have a safe contractor set you up with a turn-key solution. I think it's a good idea to invest in a safe to hold all kinds of things that are important to you. Think of them like closets... they're difficult to get too much storage.

I acquired this 1948 Mosin Nagant M44 with bright metal but tarnished by a flaking, beat up shellac finish. In search of a good Covid project I wanted some experience with wood refinishing that would honor the original armorers without tarnishing the "history" too much, rather embellishing it. First step was using Citristrip and acetone to pull remove all finish from the wood. I then went over the stock with 400 grit then 1,000 grit sandpaper. The stain is one coat of Minwax 225 Red Mahogany 225 put on very thick then wiped off 20 minutes later. I applied a total of 7 coats of Tru-Oil by hand. After the 4th coat I wet sanded with 2,000 grit sandpaper between coatings. One issue I ran into is witness lines showing up on the 6th coat after what was intended to be a final aggressive leveling wet sand and then polish - I'm not sure if it was from not waiting long enough to dry or just the nature of the product. A 7th and final coat was applied and left to dry for a week. To finish it I used 0000 steel wool to remove runs and imperfections then hand polished with a light automotive polish followed by Mothers Micro Polishing Glaze to bring out a mirror shine and remove swirl marks. The last step was a coat of Adam's Americana carnauba wax - which seems like blasphemy for use on a communist rifle but hey look at the times!

I can tell you with 100% certainty that a newborn won't be able to fire your gun. Well unless you're stupid enough to put the gun in the crib. I have 7yr old twins and they have never seen any of my guns around the house. I have two very simple gun safes for my pistols that are biometric. One safe both my wife and I are able to use, the other one in my nightstand is only programmed for me. I do have an AR-15 which is not in a safe. However it's in a carry case on a shelf high in my closet and the ammo is kept separately in one of the two safes. I don't thunk my wife or either kid could even load a single round into the magazine of the AR.

I highly, highly recommend you put a trigger lock on that AR, and much more importantly, start teaching your kids the gun safety rules, taking them to the range, letting them get the feel for it, and showing them the damage it can do.
