With my pixel 7, I get audio.drop outs every 2-3 minutes and full AA disconnects around every 10 mins. And that's better than happened on the previous firmware for ID9 that would totally hang and I'd have to reboot the car.

Pixel 8Pro, but I also had very few issues with my ex chinese one Poco F3. I had almost no disconnect issues even prior to March update. Now its better. I have the Power saving mode on in the Android Auto settings. Without it it overheats a lot which maybe the cause of your issues?!

Sometimes it doesn't start automatically when I enter the car, but I added a shortcut in the car to activate it quick in such cases.

Had my iX1 for two weeks now.

I can’t get a squeak out of the system when I am approaching a camera, although they appear on the map, central and heads up display.

The manual drive recorder is very finicky, open the app and sometimes it lets me start a recording (onto a USB drive) other times it just closes and reverts to the menu screen.

In my X1 I activate the manual recording of the Drive Recorder by holding down the parking camera button for a few seconds at the front of the console. Saves time and has worked flawlessly.

I cant get recordings on USB drive. I have inserted USB C stick on the forward or aft panel but it seems that it just doesnt work. How do you make it work?

In iDrive8, I had to specify where I wanted the recordings to go in the settings. Not sure if it's the same on iDrive 9.

It saves up to 10 recordings in car's memory in ID9. If you need them, you can select some and transfer them to a USB-C memory card or to your phone. Both options take very long time BTW.

Very hit and miss. USB in front console, and then open Drive Recorder app. I have my phone set up for Car Play and I am starting to wonder if that is what is interfering with the app. When it does work I get an option to record internal or to the USB. The USB seems to record until you stop it, turn the car off or you run out of free space. Internal seems to be time limited as other posters have stated.

I dont know. The app sometimes crashes when I have the USB in. Then I have to remove it, restart the car 2-3 times to make the app run again. Very buggy

I have the same issue. When I plug a USB, the app becomes useless because it starts crashing.

When the July software is rolled out New features would be a plus BUT I’m hoping it finally resolves many of the crazy quirks/flaws of the ID9. That’s where the BMW Software engineers should be spending their time & efforts. Otherwise it’s like they say “putting 💄 lipstick on a 🐖 pig.

Anyone figure out how to get the Remote App to use the internal camera? I've tried everything..unselecting and reseclting all the data privacy boxes, rebooting the system, etc. Exterior Cams work great and it's the only thing I can't get to work correctly on this system. Thank You ahead of time.

I have the opposite problem than you. I can’t get the external cameras to work remotely from the app. They did work when I picked it up in late December 2023.

My internal camera does work remotely without any issues.

Hi Tre,

This may sound like a crazy suggestion but have you activated the key card that came with your vehicle.

For weeks my interior camera , AR and lane change wouldn’t work , turns out some functions don’t work until this is done, as the car stays in setup mode .

That’s about all I got.

This happened to me when I first got my car. Had to uncheck all the privacy related settings for interior camera and reset iDrive by holding down the volume knob. Checked it all again once it rebooted and it started working.

My issue is the parking camera, it goes totally black sometimes. It happened 3 times till now and the dealer is saying to wait for an update.

It’s only fixed when restarting the Idrive 3 times.

Anyone facing the same issue?

I found some updates for individual apps today. The Nav, which now gives the option of satellite pictures for maps. I think it is a distraction but some might like it. The Drive Recorder but it still doesn’t want to play ball when I have Apple AirPlay connected.

You can put those on auto-update, there are updates every week. Since a few days my CarPlay apps also show up in the BMW menu as e.g. "Waze from CarPlay". Just annoying there is no real release notes.

A year on how are people finding ID9 now? Lots of updates and I expect more to come things seem to have settled down a little. Shame it started of so poorly BMW needs to have a long hard look at itself.

Still feel a few buttons for quick select options and the idrive controller would help things but the bean counters have other ideas.

All is fine on my end. I got my car in December, just before they started enabling Drive Recorder. Besides new features, I had the following issues fixed since then by updates:
- Slow boot time
- Android Auto frequent disconnects and disconnects that couldn't be resolved unless turning off the car and locking it
- frequent change of instrument cluster view saves

03/2024.40 for my ix1. There is a new one that is being installed by dealers and not yet OTA from what I’ve seen.
