Woof, that Mclaren has some speed. Without Alonso finding the wall and bringing out a SC, that was looking like a Ferrari F2004 gap by the end. For all the vaunted closeness between the teams in qualifying, didn't see much of that in the race. Only masterful Max had any hope of staying near the McLarens. Crazy that Stroll wound up placing so high and poor Yuki was completely out the points!
Great race overall thanks to the weather and the SC, glad we won't have a long wait until the next race to find out if today was a one off or the expected norm for the first half of the season. Early days of course, but a creeping feeling is starting to set in that Lewis is washed. These conditions should have been his kind of race, but he was stuck behind supposedly mid field cars for almost the entire race. Not to mention the fact Charles absolutely manhandled him at the end there (and Oscar too wow), it's not looking good. Hoping he can start showing some form soon, but that was not an impressive race for him. |

I had Max presence triggered Lando into making a mistake, but not Oscar. Too bad. I was happy he bad it back on track. Great race for Verstappen and Lando, so sad for the rookies and Yuki.

Quali is one thing, even Merc looked to have decent one lap pace. Mclaren has by far superior tire wear over an entire stint. Started mid last year and looks to expanded on that lead.

F1 2025: Chinese GP - Shanghai (Mar 23)
McLaren clearly has the best car - even with DRS, Max was not going to pass Lando unless he forced him into an error which could eventually happen with more opportunities but even the McLaren pit wall knew they had the race won and instructed Lando not to push more than should. Will see what happens in China, but it looks like the first month should be dominated by McLaren until we start seeing the first upgrades in April.

I mean...HAM has been at Ferrari for the entire winter. I assume they have a state of the art racing simulator with all kinds of advanced software to mimic conditions costing millions and I assume that HAM has spent dozens if not hundreds of hours in that simulator. But with that conversation it just seems that he's not aware of the basic functionality of the features of the car, or how the car and those features will respond in the various conditions. How is that possible? What button to press on his wheel and when (and why) should be 2nd nature to a professional racing driver. That's what they train for I imagine... Especially a veteran with 10+ years of experience. Conversations like this make him look mentally challenged...

What an amazing weekend. I was just engrossed so no time to post live. That was an entertaining race.
Not only was it absolutely bucketing down it was freezing. I had a shirt and hoody on and it was too cold to be outside. So I went and joined the queue for the merch store and had to buy a jacket. Not exactly cheap and they were flying off the shelves. Horizontal rain at times so the roof didn’t do much of a job. I wish I could post videos. I had such a great spot. Cars flying down the straight and you get a real feel for the gap and the speed. It’s mesmerising. Then a good screen to follow what was going on. Really solid drive from Lance. We are now ahead of Ferrari. Hehe. |

It gave a good feeling of the atmosphere there ![]() STR indeed had a very good result. Too bad from ALO. Normally it's the other way round. Maybe the tide is turning. ![]() I'm sure there comes a day that ALO has to quit. But what decade that will be...nobody knows ![]() There used to be a time that people were amazed that there was a driver younger than that ALO was in F1. Now that's already 33% of the grid, and there are drivers that weren't born when ALO got his first WDC....

Thanks Guido.
A few other interesting ones. 1 & 2. Entry into the garage. Old man in his element. Space age looking tunnel. 3. Beautiful shiny helmet rack. 4. The roof lights they have are a special frequency that helps tiredness and jet lag. All the computer equipment also has a direct link to Silverstone HQ who are up all hours. 5. The upper paddles on the wheel control brake bias. They are constantly adjusting this all the time. Ok. I made car sounds. Hence why the guy next to me thought I was nuts. When you get to a certain age you don’t care. ![]() |

Russell started P4 - finished P3. Rookie Antonelli started P16 - finished P4 only 1.654s behind Russell - outperformed Russell's best laptime. Of course, also crashes requiring Safety Car deployment + rain strategy helped Antonelli getting closer to the front.
All drivers performed their fastest laptime during lap 42 or 43. Safety Car exited in lap 41. Lap 43 DRS was enabled. The field resumed with new tires (order: NOR PIA VER RUS LEC TSU ALB HAM GAS ANT STR HUL BOR LAW OCO BEA). Lap 44 rain started to intensify with NOR and PIA going off-track. Raindance. Peculiar laptime facts:

Best time for it to happen. It's really unfortunate this is the best product we are given.
I've heard people bemoan Cadillac for being in formula 1 because F1 isn't supposed to be a battle of manufacturers. Fine. So in the name of saving money for those little guys who can't compete with Ferrari (a manufacturer) we are going to remove actual testing and just allow you to do everything on a videogame. Also, some games are better than others. All the games are inferior to the real thing. Also, teams make massive amounts of money...just not any of it going to anything relevant. So here we are at the "pinnacle" of motorsports, and we have two professionals who sounded like ungreased gears mashing into each other. It's quite sad. |
