Our unseasonal dry spell followed by days of rain -- heavy rain today. The Cascade Mountains are getting lots of snow but that is well above our elevation.

Dreary/damp all weekend. Saturday was supposed to be in the mid-50's F with some sun, but didn't break 50 F with mist all day. Definitely not conducive to working on the three to-do list items that I want to complete on the getting mightier Freightliner before the snow starts flying.....

Lots of cancellations at the clinic this morning. Oh well... I have the Swiss Jazz station on in my office and enjoying the wintry spectacle.

Out here in Tahoe it’s unseasonably dry. Looks like I’ll be traveling for powder this year. Thankfully I booked Japan for February. Should be the dream.

Finally mostly dry here after the melt and rain from the past couple days. Hovering around freezing mark for the rest of the week.

Took the car through the auto-wash and it did a terrible job as usual. Might have to hook up the hose and endure a cold weather wash.... in the dark

The view from the office this morning. About 5in on the ground and supposed to continue all day. There was about 10in on the deck when I got home and the plow had just gone by. It took about two hours to get it all cleared away. Time for a rum.

After twenty years in New Hampshire, this was one of the reasons we made the move south when we turned 70.

I don't know that powder snow would have made a difference, but our aging bodies finally said "No!" to the heavy wet stuff that we called Sierra Cement when we lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and went up to Tahoe on weekends.

Like any number of other things, that used to be quite common.

Just heard on the news that today was the first Snow Day of the year, for 4"...

We are raising a bunch of wimps and whiners that knows nothing when they leave school (08:00 to 14:00) but they want big money job.

Like I mentioned on another thread, the only time I got a snow day was because there was 3+' of snow in the driveway.

Thank fuchen God they are not the ones that our pensions relied on.

Rant over

I went to private school, and even 3' it was open, it was in their standards.
Never missed a school day .

And if the bus can't bring the kids, my dad was happy to bring us at school with his 250 series (construction)

In the 90s smaller hurricanes wouldn’t close schools in New Orleans. Now even strong tropical storms are cause for closure. These youngsters don’t know the grind
