Bad idea, that'll work against your progress if anything. Your abdominal muscles need time to recover before you can work them again. Tony Horton himself remarks that at the end of Ab Ripper X.

I have a quick question for you guys with p90x. I recently had surgery during my first rest week and it looks like I will be missing another week before I can start over. Has anyone had any experience with missing a week or two and picking it back up? How hard is it? What helped?

One thing to remember on any exercise program.. it's a marathon. You don't get out of shape in 1 week (or month, etc...) and you don't get into shape in that same time. You will get sore again, and maybe be a little slower in some of the moves, but it will come back. Missing a week here or there is fine. Life just gets in the way now and then. Just pick up where you left off and extend the total effort for 1 week. If you need to miss a couple of weeks, just start that phase all over again.

That's what I thought about it. I'm glad to hear about other guys experiences though. I will be restarting it next Monday and extending the first phase. I live for p90x. The results are incredible if you follow the nutrition guide.

Honestly, it's no different than someone transitioning from not doing anything to starting P90x. Stopping and restarting is not a big deal, it just takes longer to complete the program and the results might not be as dramatic.

It's certainly better than quitting or not doing it at all.

Here is my before and after shots...about a year in between the photos, the after one was taken about a month ago. I did one round of p90x as well as hit the gym hard, now ive stopped p90x and started lifting heavy 3 days a week and doing high intensity cardio twice a week. P90x played a large part in my transformation but ALOT of it is diet, without eating right theres no point in even doing the rest. Sorry the first pic is blurry.

I was forced to quit for a week due to an injury. I still am not able to fully do all the workouts because my back hurts so much. But I have been slowly getting back into. The surprising thing is, during that week I was still able to lose 5 pounds. My advice is to keep eating healthy and do any physical activity possible that wouldnt interfere with your surgery

SCS, first of all I'd like to congratulate you!!

So it took you 5 months to accomplish this? Going by your 2010 dates. Now how about you take the wifey to get her nails done and you get waxed while you're there

thanks man, yeah i started the end of january of 2010 and completed the 90 day program. after the 90 days, i just ran a few times per week to maintain. the after pic was taken in june or early july. one thing i didn't do was follow the died plan. i did however watch my calories and protein intake. i think the key to the program is to give it all you've got. when i started i could only do a couple of pull ups and maybe ten push ups. i was also only able to make it about halfway through each workout for the first month or so.

i'll look into waxing...lol

Great thread. I did P90x in 2009 and lost 50lbs, went from 265 to 215. I got out of the habit and when winter rolled around I lost the willpower to keep working out so I gained back 25lbs of what I had lost. Now, I am doing my own workouts at home. I mostly do intense cardio on a treadmil or a recumbant bike and I also do some free weight lifting. So far I have lost 8lbs in 3 weeks.

P90x is a great program for teaching you how to eat and what exercizes work for you.

Keep up the hard work everyone!

Day 1 for me was yesterday....with an injured wrist at that...wish me luck!
BTW any ex-military in here? Chest and back workout reminded of P.T. in basic training....a lot of pull-ups and push-ups, stuff I did almost everyday when I was active duty....go figure I guess the Army was kinda right...LOL.
