Check out www.bulletsafe.com ... I met/chatted a bunch of times with the guy who started that company at security trade shows out in Vegas. Very high quality product that's also reasonably priced.

I've seen this group pop up recently as well:

https://bulletproofeveryone.com

Will likely pick up a hoodie from them eventually, "just cuz"
Anyone ever take a bullet wearing one of these?

I think I like the look of the 2nd one better (more secure) but

1. not sure on height fitting underneath the seat
2. not sure it's wide enough to fit a compact or full size vs only a subcompact. Says 5" wide but a G19 is 5.04" from sights to mag plate.

The search continues but thanks for the links, gives me a starting point. Maybe I'll fab something up similar to the 2nd one but with the profile of the 1st one...
Update: bought the lifepod. It (barely) fits a G19. It does NOT fit a full size 1911.

Upon further shopping, yes, there are two sizes. Doh.

What's the story with .357 Mag ammo? LGS and local range both had none in stock. They had plenty of 9mm, .40S&W, .45, .22LR and more.

A guy at the LGS said police departments and some military units have switched to 9mm, causing a temporary surge in demand for 9mm, to the detriment of other calibers when it comes to manufacturing output at the ammo producers.

Is this story legit? That LEO and military units have recently changed to 9mm? Notwithstanding the already large installed base of existing 9mm users.

The transition to 9mm for law enforcement agencies has been going for a while now. The FBI put out a huge study about the efficacy of 9mm and everyone jumped on the bandwagon, dropping .40…. This includes large Federal law enforcement agencies.

As for the military… the US has been using 9mm since switch to the M9 in the 80s. For the most part outside of some special units the US is still using 9mm. So, 9mm use is nothing new there.

Ammo availability is still hard to get. I’m back ordered 30 cases of 357sig fmj. Winchester told me they’re busy. I ordered in August.
I ordered 50 cases in February just to be safe.

You've ordered 80 cases of pistol ammo? That is either 40,000 rounds or 80,000 depending on how you define case.

it's 500 per case. it's the city's money, not mine. lol

but I don't want to run out again since most companies are slowing 357sig production.
if i had known my chief was going to mandate red dots, i would've switched us to 9mm and gotten red dot capable guns. The way he's having us do it is stupid (rear dovetail), I ended up sending mine out to get milled and got yelled at for it.

oh well. live and learn. maybe in 2028 when it's time to trade guns in again.
i'm still waiting on 10 cases of 9mm, .40 and .45 each. The only thing I got that I ordered was 5.56 and .380 ammo from Winchester.

Must be the 2.0 - it’s a larger case. I found mine on Amazon and bought it for $110. Didn’t realize there were 2 sizes.

Your department is still using .357Sig? You have to be one of the last in the nation still using that cartridge.

Glock rep's probably gonna retire after getting you guys to convert over to 9mm.

The department can just buy drop in replacement barrels. Might not need to change any other parts.

We thought about that but with the chief mandating red dots now, next time we switch, I will switch us to the Glock 45 MOS. It'll be easier on our hips with the shorter slide. As it is now, I switched to the TLR-7A weapon light and I cut my holster down.

Good move.

Nice to see that your Chief is embracing red dots. How do the officers like that?

Is your Chief big on training, also?

He's big on training except when it comes time to pay people to train. lol.

He forced the red dots on us. Everyone else has the rear sight removed and a dovetail plate installed. I had mine milled before he said no so I'm the only one that's milled. So I'm fine with it. Everyone else hates it.

This year I pushed to get the adjustable brightness RM06 model so I will be switching over to that once they come in and everyone else going forward will be getting the RM06 as well. I'm still working on him letting everyone else mill their guns. It's a process but I'll get us there.

here's my off duty gun with one of work's spare RMRs and someone else's duty gun with the dovetail mount.
