Not bad, but if you start with RAW, add an S-curve in the RGB, up the contrast a good bit and add a little Luminance, I think you'll be even happier. Try working with RAW a little and you'll be hooked, I suspect. Dave

I accidentally shot about 100 pictures in JPEG by accident before realizing. I've been only using RAW only for probably the last 6+ months and made the mistake of doing a favour for a relative and shot to JPEGs for her, and forgot to switch back... big D'OH moment for me on my trip problem has since been fixed, but Lost about 100 shots. Well.... not lost.... but you know what I mean. |

Reed, it sounds like something I would do. Except forget to turn on AF or use 1600 ISO in bright sun.

The first thing I always check is that I am shooting in RAW. I've made too many mistakes like that.

It's white balance with me. Anytime I take it off auto, I always forget to set it back. Luckily it's easy enough to fix.

Why so high ISO, you were at 1/500 sec?

Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus (TFC) try to break the world record for the most carolers in one place. On Dec 3, noon time at the Christian Science Plaza Keith Lockhart leaded the TFC and the gathered crowds in a holiday sing-along in hopes of breaking the world record title held by Adelaide, Australia with 9,100 carolers last year.

Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago.
I wanted lots of stability and no camera shake. There was so little information that the high ISO wouldn't show up as too grainy, and the lights are so small in pixel count that they show no obtrusive grain either. I was just having fun, not really shooting for ultimate precision. |
