Yeah... a bit of a newb in this field, but working on it. The FNH is a 5.7. Not quite jumping into the PS-90 yet and not the AR-15 variants. The ballistics on the 5.7 are stunning (to me). The muzzle velocity and flat trajectory (at least at "normal" ranges) are... quite nice.

The H&K is the P2000SK with the LE Mod. Love that one. Amazing pull.

If by pull you mean trigger pull and it's anything close to the factory P30 trigger.... you need more exposure to other firearms.

I'll admit that my FNX-45 tactical does have a VERY nice trigger straight out of the box, but nothing (that i've shot) compares to a custom 1911 for trigger articulation. The millisecond you think about pulling the trigger, bang! No creep, not take up, just mere 1.2 pounds of pressure and bang.

1. Yes, I need more exposure, definitely.
2. The LE mod makes the pull completely different (as well as eliminating the safety). It is not quite 1.2, but it is definitely reduced from the stock.
3. Have been thinking about a nice customer 1911. Who is your go to? I am newbish enough to not have a great understanding of the vast array of 1911's out there - do you go with the "big boys" or the smaller ones - like Springfield or Kimber?

That's right, i keep forgetting that i need to have that done to the P30 or just get rid of it. I like it for comfort, but i can't stand the trigger. Not the pull so much, but the reset is enormous.

1911s are C5driver 's territory. I only have 2, a Sig Scorpion 5" and a Nighthawk Custom. I love shooting both. I'll let him teach the 1911 class.

What's the LE mod? Not familiar with HK or the FNH.

If i'm not mistaken, it reduces the 100 mile reset and reduces the trigger pull weight while cleaning up the release a little bit.

I'm reluctant to do it because i feel like i shouldn't have to get a trigger job on a $900 pistol to make it just acceptable.

Edit: here are some details.... http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/HK-LE...stols-p316.htm

Edit 2: I'm starting to realize just how unfriendly H&K is towards consumers. Despite owning an H&K pistol and liking it (except for the trigger) i'm beginning to agree that their gear is overpriced. They seem to be LEO/Military focused and the consumer division is a necessary evil. Their prices and service level reflects that in my opinion.

LE mod is "law enforcement" mod. It is how they make them for their law enforcement customers.

From wikipedia: The LEM trigger is a dual-stage trigger that fires from a hammer down position in both SA and DA modes, but has an internal mechanism that is cocked with each cycle of the action. It provides a constant trigger pull of 20 N (4.5 lbf)

I haven't been a fan ever since they pulled away from the consumer market around 2003(?). There's nothing that the USP does that Glock can't do better and rather than moving upmarket, they decide to stay with .mil and .gov, and have done a shitty job at that. Meanwhile, Glock secured the FBI contract and is now the go to for NSW.

Remember the $10K 416 upper?

With proprietary part designs! Talk about a company saying GFYS to consumers.

Springfield...made in the USA and with a lifetime warranty. The MC Operator would be a good start if you want to bang away. The Milspec is a better choice, IMO, if you want a good base gun to add stuff. If money is no object, look at the Pro, but expect a 2 year wait, unless you find one sitting on a shelf.

The 1911 is an easy gun to shoot well...long-ish sight radius, soft shooting (4.7 grains of powder), heavy, great recovery, and a good trigger.

I tried to love it as well, but just didn't feel it. I do have a Sig 1911 as mentioned and while it's super fun to shoot. I wouldn't be grabbing that pistol if something went bump in the night. I had major FTF problems within the first 800 rounds. The awesome part is that Sig's customer service is top notch.

I contacted them on a Thursday around 5pm. They answered the phone surprisingly. By the time we hung up, i had a next day air bill in my email. I sent it out the next day. Come the following Thursday, (4 business days later) i received the pistol back via fedex. They put a new slide catch on it, polished the feed ramp and included two new magazines. The FTF issues have all but stopped. I think i've realized that pistol just need to be run a little more wet than others. But very accurate, fun to shoot, feels great.

I went looking for another .45 and was set on getting a sig. But they just didn't feel right. I put 4 rounds through their rental FNX.45 (which wasn't even on my radar) and bought one that day. It sounds huge with it's doubles stack 15rd capacity mag, but it doesn't feel large in my hands. Probably my favorite pistol to shoot at the moment.

Well the 15 round mags are a no no in LA, so what's the point of a fat 10 round pistol? The 239 would disappear and is a better choice for you restricted guys...

I prefer the .40 in the sig... Highest caliber I will go...

Although... LCR takes 9 and .357 so I digress...

A while back i wanted to get a 416 AR but thankfully someone with some smarts talked me out of it. I ended up getting the KAC SR-15 E3 Mod2 instead. I keep wanting to mod it up, but it's such as smooth shooter as is from the factory.

Added bonus that i bought it directly from Eugene's grandson.

The same day i bought the FNX45 i ditched my last .40cal pistol. Just don't see the reason for it anymore. I swapped out my gen 2 G23 for a gen 4 G19 and have been very happy for it.
