So there's an M760i but still no M performance model of the biggest seller and most iconic model the 3 series and its 4 series sibling ... I don't get BMW logic.
Having said that I sat in the new 7 today and am mighty impressed at how comfy it was, not sure it needs an M performance model though... My lady and I were discussing that rather than debating who should drive like usual, we'd be debating who should get the privilege of sitting the back if we owned one of those! |

Yet it's the only BMW that I'd rather have based on looks alone instead of a competing brand. I'd rather have this gen for a longer time because I know they'll find a way to screw up the next gen with connected headlights and pig nostrils.

So there's an M-everything but still no proper M model of BMW's flagship range topping 7 series. I don't get BMW logic.

But, taking into account how expensive these options are, it might be better to purchase a stripper M3 |

And I dont think that its true that BMW makes an M-everything. M is still very special, as only 7 models are Ms in BMWs line up. M2,M3/4,M5/6 and the X5/6M. Compare this to AMG.

Unless of course BMW thought they could make more money selling all the bits to do this individually. |

Disagree all you wish, but the sales numbers tell the story. BMW is building the right cars in order to secure a healthy place in the market. They are matching or beating their competitors in luxury vehicle sales which is an impressive feat considering the overall size of companies like VAG, Toyota, Mercedes Benz.

Just like E90 M3 and E92 M3 were.
It's a result of the offset production start dates of the F30 and F32, which is 1.5+ yrs. This same trend has existed since the E36. What they really ought to do is allow the M3 to go to market before the M4, just as the M5 does the M6. I think that now that the model name changes have settled and the products can achieve separation we may see this happen in future generations. But maybe not yet with next generation. |
