One could argue that if you made the case that politics is criminal in nature.
Every year at tax time, money is forcibly extracted from me without my consent. Does that count?
Well considering certain taxation was designed and presented to be temporary (…but of course, the government will never willingly relinquish power granted to them), you could make the argument.

I have a question. If someone overdoses and is given Narcan at around midnight (and not transported to a hospital or given any other medical treatment), is it plausible that said individual could eat a normal breakfast and walk over a mile down the road at 7 AM?????

It depends on what drug was used to overdose. There are downside effects to drugs, but they vary depending on the class of drug. Considering tweekers walk around aimlessly while high all of the time, covering a mile in zombie-mode isn't a far fetched scenario. My local tweekers cover ground in an impressive fashion.

The federal components of Roe v. Wade have been overturned in another landmark United States Supreme Court decision. Looks like my department will be on tactical alert. The riots/protests are bound to occur.

The majority opinion was written by Justice Alito…

"…We end this opinion where we began. Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives."

Well done! Alito, like Thomas, has been rational, reasonable and fair. There were no explicit Constitutional protections and it should've always been a states rights issue to begin with.

Are police forces ramping up for the "mostly peaceful" protests planned by the anguished left over the Roe v Wade decision?

I'm OK with protest. But it should require police in riot gear to keep the peace. We have lost civility.

I'm off today, but I'm certain we are as well as the surrounding agencies in Los Angeles. It's funny how certain groups push the narrative(s) that the protests are mostly peaceful. In my neck of the woods, very few were…..and the one or two small protests that did qualify as "peaceful" - only because nothing was damaged and/or no fights occurred - were on the knife's edge of turning bad. They threatened us, attempted to break established police barriers, etc. Every other protest was really a riot replete with us getting into fights, shooting less lethal munitions, government property being damaged/vandalized, etc.

I think the term "mostly peaceful" has become a satire. Anyone with a brain can see they aren't. Every single BLM protest seemed to turn into a riot once it got dark. I may be wrong but I believe the underbelly of the ghetto used these protests to riot and loot. Those who actually believed they were justified in their protest were useful tools for the criminal class.

You're absolutely right. The large majority just wanted to loot stores. Many of the riots and looting were pre-planned and coordinated on various social media platforms we monitored. We have an intelligence team that monitors even the lowest level platforms for terrorist behavior.

politicians represent us - for better or for worse - it just takes a crap ton of money to win nowadays. So you tend to get lawyers and ceo's. It's a thankless job and in most cases a calling.

My niece is in DC going to law school and has an intern job over the summer so she is still there. She just sent this to my sister, they are plastered all over town. I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like it will be an ugly weekend.

Tell me about it. I would normally be working tonight too, but I've been off since the beginning of my work week due to a medical issue. I return to work tomorrow afternoon for a 16-hour shift, but I truly may not be able to work. I might get sent home again. As I sit here today, I am still useless. Bad conjunctivitis in both eyes still.

Right?!? If I were a shady ass criminal, I would have picked up some new Dainese riding gear when they raided the Costa Mesa and Santa Monica stores. I jest, but yeah……rioters and looters raided the stores; as if Dainese had anything to do with George Floyd and the other nonsense BLM championed that year (…remember their original "reason" was to loot the stores/businesses that were systematically racist and supported white supremacy). Nonsense!

There were already a few because of the prior document leak, so I know it's going to erupt. On one hand, let them bring it on. We The People will not be bullied by them. If they want it, we'll give it to them (…professionally speaking).

Sounds like an insurrection to me! Inciting a riot at the very least!

…but it won't be viewed that way because the rules are different when you're down for their cause.

They will act like fools over the next 1-5 days and then blame law enforcement for having to respond and deal with their criminal behavior. In my area, Gascon will not prosecute any of them and their bad behavior will have been rewarded……..without consequence nor accountability.

If you’re not up to par, don’t be a hero and try to wing it. The people in your jurisdiction and especially here on this thread need you at 100%!

I hear you! Suggestion heeded. If I feel like crap tomorrow I will have to stay home. The last thing I need is to deploy to riots/protests at less than 100% and get caught off guard by something or someone I would've normally neutralized.

For example….

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CfM5i...d=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

This officer was extremely vigilant and quick on the draw. Any hesitation and he might not have gone home to his family that day.

Holy stuff - that happened extremely fast. I don't know if I could've caught that. And even if I did, thinking of that possibility day in, day out - that's a lot of mental stress...

It's stressful for sure. The moment you get any amount of non-compliance, your mind goes there and you start preparing for the worst.

This kid was stalling, exactly like what was being described, but you saw, as soon as he made a move, the kids legs were dancing. He was definitely getting stung on that one. I'm surprised he walked around to the back, and stayed standing, unless he knew there was no one else in the truck, he could have easily gotten hit, through that back window, by another passenger.

My speculation - and what the body-worn camera doesn't show - is the officer was already standing at the door and could fully see into the cab of the truck. He knew there was only a sole occupant. Shooting at the suspect through the rear glass as he retreated toward concealment was the best approach in order to maintain visual contact and avoiding giving up too much ground. I think the first few shots tagged the suspect through the open driver's side door.

He definitely wasn't getting out. I think he got hit more than a few times, if you see those legs dancing. That's what I definitely think with him knowing how many occupants were in the truck.

We have a MILO at work, and it's geared more toward my job, and I'm not a beat cop. My guys are already in cuffs.
